Loss to the 3.319

I too lost alot of my songs after the 3.319 update. I got a message after the update that said I needed to move some of the KMA files. It sounded like they may have been seperated in the update action. I clicked yes... Sorry I did that....Things haven't been right since.

same problem, i upgraded from 3317 to 3319. had problems installing singers disk while a singer was singing. the tempo of the song playing would slow down alot. went back to 337, and now it make all sorts of static sounds. Yes I have updated all firmware and drivers, and yes I check for updates (ALL UPDATES) daily.

3.319

Does MTU read these forums. Has anybody heard whether they're working on correcting these problems? Like I said before, the best program I had was 3.312. Loaded other peoples songs in about 20 to 30 sec. without interupting the current singers music. I also did all the updates. Even went to tools and changed the buffer to B then C. No help. How can I think that it's my CD/DVD drive or anythingelse when 3.312 ran so good. The only reason I did the upgrades was to get more companies and not have to hand type in song titles and artists when I got new karaoke cd's. Now I feel that's a small price to pay.

Yesterday 14,980 songs in Hoster songs...Today 3,173.

:? Okay, I have no idea what happened. Did a dry run after having completed entering all my songs on Saturday - everything worked perfectly. Got on the computer this morning to check on some things before actually taking computer to a show tonight...all of a sudden computer shows I only have 3,173 .kma files! I had no power failures or anything. I have mirrored SATA drives, brand new. I was working on the songbook, saving changes to a CD in the DVD drive but that should not have affected my song files...

Any suggestions on what may have happened to the other 11,000 SONGS??? Sure appreciate any info - after hundreds of hours entering CDGs, I can't imagine I'll have to do it again!

First thought, have you used My Computer or Windows Explorer to search for "*.kma" files and all the folders they are in? If the files are missing, post that here and ignore #1-7 below.

1. I checked your record and you are running Hoster 3.319, downloaded 2/2/08. You may have either #1 or #2. Please read the version changes at this page.

2. In the Import CD Tracks screen, post here EXACTLY what the Save as Folder field displays.

3. Did you change this folder at any time while you were importing?

4. Run the Tools menu > Build Songs Database command. In the Song Source Folders group, do you see the folder in #2 above in the list box?

5. If not, type it into this list box.

6. If you answered "Yes" to #3 above, then find all... All... ALL the folders you imported into and also type each of them into the list box. There is no sub-folder inclusion so you must type in each folder you used. (FYI: Hoster 3.108 (#10) and higher automatically add any folders you use in the Save As Folder field to the list window for you.)

7. Click the Build Songs Database button at the bottom.

All KMA Files found in the folders you typed into the list box above will be in the Songs Database when it is finished. If the last message box does not indicate 14,980, then you may have missed some folders.

Another thought, and I'm not expert on this, the MIRRORED drives may have done an auto-restore some time after you verified the files were there. It's a long shot, but I believe it may be possible.

Last thought, and this has never happened before version 3.319, there may be a bug that is causing KMA files to disappear. We have one other Thread here that also had KMA files there at night, and the next morning they were gone... all 65,000+ of them. He had a backup of 52,000 of them.

Lost songs

I am a new subscriber, am using the newest version of Hoster. I did a search for .kma in all drives and it shows only 3,170. Songbook still shows 14,900-something, which is what I had when I was using it on Saturday.

ARGGGGG.....was going to do my backup to a 500GB external drive this morning.

Lost song

Of interest, the only songs that are showing (in the search for .kma files) are the ones that begin with the letter "S" thru "Z." ???

Don't touch your hard drive yet. There may be a way to restore the lost files.

I'll have MTUSUPPORT call you shortly since you seem to be home.

thank you. Yes, I am at home (work at home).

Metalgodz February 25th, 2008 01:56 PM

Same thing happened to me except I lost all 50000 files.

Karen K February 25th, 2008 01:58 PM

glad I'm not alone....

oh please don't tell me that....Here I was happily bragging last night at a karaoke function that I had completed uploading ALL my songs and was going to finally use the computer tonight at my show. I eagerly await a call from the support people in an all but faded hope of recovering the stuff. Ironically, the reason I booted 'er up this morning was to do the final step, and that was backing it up to my external 'book.' ARGGGGG.....

I'm thinking, metalgodz, that you spent easily 4 times the amount of time I did entering my music....my sincerest apologies...have you been able to recover ANY of it?

K

Metalgodz February 25th, 2008 02:51 PM

Nope. At least it didnt happen at a show. I've got my other rig for the shows during the week but I was really digging the whole Hoster experience......

Metalgodz February 25th, 2008 02:52 PM

NEVER EVER UPGRADE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!! There could be a song in there somewhere.

MTUSUPPORT February 25th, 2008 04:01 PM

Metalgodz,
Can you try to run this program and see if it will recover your .kma files from you drive. http://www.recuva.com/

Please run this and let me know if it does find them or help you get any of them back. It should work, we think.

We are trying to figure out what is causing the files to be deleted, as there should be no way for the upgrade to do this, but it has done this a few times now.

Also what OS are you running under?

Karen K February 25th, 2008 04:22 PM

Able to Recover songs!

Metalgodz: I went to "Paretologic" and right now it is recovering the 10,000 plus songs that I thought were goners..... WOOHOOO. ($39)

K

Metalgodz February 25th, 2008 04:29 PM

What file name do I run it under

Karen K February 25th, 2008 04:36 PM

Paretologic for recovering lost data

Not sure what you're asking - I went to Paretologic, performed the recovery (you can watch it scan and recover) - on the left is a list of the types of files it is scanning, and on the right, the number of actual files it recovered. I scrolled to the bottom of the dialogue box and watched it recover 10,000 "other types of files" or something like that. It is taking a while but they're being recovered.

You can see it is recovering data (Lordy, I hope I'm not talking too soon!touch wood) ... and then when you see it has found what you're looking for, you pay for it $39, then it actually recovers the data.

I can see the progress - it is counting down from the 10,000-plus that were there, seeing each file that is being recovered.
