i dont use microstudio but im pretty sure it will copy cd-g's

why would you want to put a cd-g on your hard drive ? its a pretty big file.
The newest Microstudio will convert a KMA back to bin and burn it to a disk. I use it when I go to someone elses show and want to take a compilation disk with me. You can search for songs by title, artist or file name (alphabetize by diskid). Does lots of other things too.
Works quite well. A steal at only $40

Gave Microstudio a try

Thanks for the feedback from everyone, I really appreciate it.

I downloaded Microstudio and did an eval on it. And it will do everything I think I want it to do, however, after I ripped 3 songs from a CD+G and saved them to the hard drive, when I tried to play them back they did not always show the words and they did not always playback well. Sometimes the music would sound "jumpy". I had also burned those same 3 songs to a CD+G and the same thing occurred on them. What was strange is that some times the song would play as it should (from both the hard drive drive and the CD+G I burned) and some times it wouldn't.

I also downloaded PowerCD Burner and PowerCD Player. I did the same thing with it and everything played back fine. However, I also used PowerCD Player to playback the songs I had ripped and burned with Microstudio and all of those songs played back without a problem. So it looks like there is a problem with the playback on Microstudio. Is the demo of Microsudio playback crippled in some way and that is what caused the problem or is it because of my CD Burner which is a Memorex?

I like the Microstudio design (both burner and player in one application) I also like the search feature, but I am concerned about the playback capability. Does anyone know why the playback doesn't always work properly? Does anyone also know of any drawbacks I should be concerned about on PowerCD Burner or Player or does anyone know of some features Microstudio has that PowerCD Burner/Player doesn't have?

The problem is probably updates. Try updating Windows using the custom update and update all. Also go to Memorex and make sure your firmware for the burner is up to date (Microstudio will tell you what version of firmware you have in the "Default Drive" window).

Yes, but he may have already installed updates and not the .net framework. Just making sure he gets it.

Have the updates

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm a .net developer and so I have all of the .net frameworks installed starting at 1.0. I also keep my XP updated. However, I do not know about the Memorex firmware updates so I will check on that.

Is the net framework required to be 1.0 or the newer 2.0?
Will 1.0 work, in other words.

From the Computer Requirements on the Microstudio product description page.

"A Windows/PC computer with at least 2GB of free hard drive space. NOTE: Microstudio 4.001 and higher requires Windows Vista, or 2000+SR4, or XP Home/Pro/Media Center+SR2 with .NET Framework v1.1 or higher."
