Re: 2 x Computers / External HD / Hoster Error
like i said before,
i think when you installed hoster the first time, you selected the usb drive for all your files. you should have defaulted to : C:\Program Files\Micro Technology Unlimited\Hoster can you verify this PRM ? |

Re: 2 x Computers / External HD / Hoster Error
Fixed!
![]() Once I attached the external (USB) Drive -- Hoster opened up and allowed me to manuver --- had lots of fun -- Hoster didn't want to pick the file folder on the local HD that had the kma files on it -- It wanted to stay @ C:\ -- Finally let it build the database -- it said 'OK' -- But when attempted to 'add song' -- Hoster still looked for the external drive -- Finally attempted another rebuild -- it finally let me pick c:\hoster-songs. Now on the 'window' I have both my external as well as my internal locations (Had to delete the reference to c:\). Guess this is a learning curve regarding having backups and how they will work. Thanks for all the advice. |

Re: 2 x Computers / External HD / Hoster Error
Remove the reference to the external hard drive, then rebuild again...... if you have dup's between it will only reference 1 or the other.
Yes, you can remove the reference to the external hard drive (look in the manual) |

Re: 2 x Computers / External HD / Hoster Error
Why remove the reference? --
![]() After having Hoster not even see the file folder where the songs were ![]() I have this now on the laptop as well (references to 2 folders - external/internal) -- and it works great -- for personal appearance gigs -- I copy the kma files to the local HD on the laptop and rebuild the database pointing towards it -- (Keeps me from toting/setting up the external for small jobs) What didn't work -- Hoster completely failed when the external HD was removed -- I would have expected the program to allow me in to reset the path towards wherever the data was -- but it errored out before starting. I think the database in Hoster is been built around MS Access -- I have done very little w/Access -- I'm a Dataease Person -- I learned Database programming and all the quirks w/ Dataease ![]() |
