Help with .bin and Microstudio

First thing is I've used Golden Hawk CDRWIN since 1995 to make custome CDG's before I knew of Microstudio which I'm sure is a great program. CDRWIN creates .bin files. I have another program that converts .bin files to mp3+g files. This is why I need a .bin file but I hear the .cdg file is the same except for the name of the extention. If all this is true I plan to buy Microstudio to get the job done. Also, I will likely use Microstudio to make future custom CDG's since it's user interface is probably much nicer than CDRWIN.
