Micro will save as a .cdg file in the hard drive which in this case are identical but the extension. MTU are saving it the correct way versus the competition who are saving their Karaoke files into .bin :?

Microstudio and CDRWin will allow you to workaround multisession, but not MediaCloq. If you would like a copy of the workaround for either, send me a PM with your E-Mail address.

Read the manual topic in the TOC on File Names. You will see we DO support the .bin file extension... when we make an entire disc copy. That is the appropriate use of .bin. :w

However, for individual tracks, you cannot safely assume what is INSIDE the file is a true CDG format unless there is a .cdg extension on it... at least as MTU uses the .cdg, not as the MP3+G developers use it for only graphics/lyrics data with no audio. Their use of .cdg is WRONG as it is NOT a true CDG karaoke file format. :m

There is true engineering design, and then there is "do what feels good" design. We try to always do things the RIGHT WAY. :)

Does Hoster have any utilities to duplicate and encode CDG's including multi-session? Or, is Microstudio the only MTU program to do this?

I need a .bin file for another utility that I have to work. Will renaming a .cdg file to .bin work?

Microstudio.

Hoster currently only imports songs from CDG DISCS,not .cdg files on the hard drive. That function is coming, but it will be a while yet. :s

Nope. We don't save anything except the .kma compressed file that is also added to our Songs Database to make it very easy to locate and add to the Playlist for a show. :s

Ok guys please help if you know the answer. If I buy Microstudio can I import ALL the tracks on Sound Choice SC8752 and output it to my hard drive as a .cdg file? I read that I can rename the extention from .cdg to .bin and the file format is the same. This is still true isn't it?

If SC8752 is Multi-session you should be able to extract them to your hard drive with Microstudio using technics discussed in these forums.

Why do you want to rename to .bin? If you use Microstudio to extract them to your hard drive, then use Microstudio to create a custom disc and then burn them. Then you can use that disc to import into Hoster. You don't need another program to burn them. You can rename them to .bin and use other software to burn them but WHY.

If I'm just not understanding what you mean, I apoligize.

First thing is I've used Golden Hawk CDRWIN since 1995 to make custome CDG's before I knew of Microstudio which I'm sure is a great program. CDRWIN creates .bin files. I have another program that converts .bin files to mp3+g files. This is why I need a .bin file but I hear the .cdg file is the same except for the name of the extention. If all this is true I plan to buy Microstudio to get the job done. Also, I will likely use Microstudio to make future custom CDG's since it's user interface is probably much nicer than CDRWIN.

I still own both programs, however, Goldenhawk hasn't been booted up since I recieve my first Microstudio Program. There is no comparison for ease of use, and yes the multi-function work around works, and works well; something goldenhawk can't do. Microstudio gets my vote for the best CDG backup program hands down! :g

I understand what you are trying to do... In case you didn't know it exists a freeware that converts .cdg file in the hard drive to any desire file like: mp3+g, wma+g, wave+g & bin :e

The way they call the convertion is: MTU to ... so this shows you how popular MTU is in the industry!!

Looks like you are getting lots of help with this one. But, all in all I do believe that you could take the cdg file that Microstudio creates and rename to bin and use your other software to convert to mp3+g. Good luck.

PS The only thing I have used CDRWin for since getting Microstudio is to extract tracks from SC MediaCloq discs.

I already have this freeware .bin to mp3+g. Please re-read my post and you will see that what I'm asking for is a utility that can read the "multi-session" CDG and create the .bin file. That would be Microstudio but I am just trying to verify that the .cdg format is exactly the same as the .bin format.

What you have is a freeware that converts from .bin to mp3+g but what I'm saying is .cdg to mp3+g and more!

This way you can use Microstudio with your Multisession disk and than convert the cdg file in the hard drive to mp3+g. :w You also have the option to just change the extension to .bin and use your freeware but just thought I could help :?

Yes. The .bin file that is created by CDRWin is IDENTICAL to the .cdg file created by Microstudio.

You can import a .cdg file in Microstudio and Rename it to .bin and it will work perfect.
