Thumbs down Re: Hoster 5.09 Has been released May 28, 2013

Ok Girls & Boys

I attempted to restore at a June point, but the Windows 8 took right back to day 1. Wooh, was that scary.

The computer rebooted and gave me a BLANK BLUE screen. No icons, no menu, no task bar and no nothing. I tried all the known button, tricks and switches to no available.

I hard powered off and on and by the 4th time of powering on/off I got the Windows 8 menu screen back to my sweating pleasure.

I am not sure why this all happened, but it was a learning adjustment. I installed all the updates again and created a NEW restore point.

I did all the suggested MTU configurations again. I saved all my old singers, songs, and database in a different folder and copied them back into the needed folder. Thank God for that.

I installed Hoster again and checked the box to clear old settings.

I made some changes in Hoster, marquee, font and color. Restarted Hoster and all the setting stayed the as is. Thank God for that too.

But, STILL, the link at the top of Hoster, Hoster Manual and adding songs from the singers playlist DOES NOT work.

Is this "adding songs from the singers playlist DOES NOT work" a new problem ?
As I thought before it was just trying to add songs from the playlist to the singers database

Do you see all the singers songs displayed in that dialog when clicking the singers button ?

When you say "I saved all my old singers, songs, and database"
Was that the "singers.mdb" file ?

Then when you say you copied them back into the needed folder, was that singers.mdb you copied to C:\ProgramData\mtu.com\Hoster folder ?
Which would be the correct way.

Or did you try copying the actual contents and pasting that into the singers.mdb which would be the wrong way ?

No Roy, it is the same problem with adding songs from the playlist to the singers database. I have singers when I click on the singers button.

Since I couldn't add songs from the playlist to a singers database by right mouse button clicking and then clicking add to "XXXXXXX songs", I added them using the "Search" then choosing the singer, then clicking the CTRL S+ button. Since the songs was already in the playlist I didn't want to add it again.

Now Yes on the copy, as I wanted the same playlists from different gigs. Each one has different singers and when I can't right mouse button to add songs I have to do it manually with the "Search" button.

Am I the only one using Windows 8 having these problems using 5.09.02?

I don't know of anyone else using Windows 8 with your particular problems.

We have been digging through the code all day today and have not yet run into anything that would cause your situation, so we need more information on this.

We need to know what types of files, etc.... with as Much information as you can give us.

I am having this same problem with version 5.09.02. I have deleted all of my kmh files and basically started over using the Build Database function. My hard drive went from 169GB used to 500GB used. Knowing the Hoster creates kmh files, I was able to determine that the Temp folder was not being deleted after the process completed. Manually cleaning this folder allowed me to continue. This is abviously a bug. When will we get an update?

I also noticed that many of my zip files (an entire folder from what I can tell) will not import. I used my prior version of Hoster (5.04) and so far, all of these files import using the older version. I have not found a thread on this issue.

I found that some of my tracks (zip) are not parsing the name fields correctly. They are appearing in the song list as Track 1, Unknown, "Unknown Brand", etc for Title, Artist, Brand, etc. The zip file name is correctly typed to match the field order.

I am running Hoster on a Dell Studio 1745 running Windows 7 (64 bit) with 6GB RAM and Intel Core Duo CPU P8700 @2.53 GHz. All MS updates have been applied and I have been using this laptop with Hoster for at leat three years.

I have a week long Gig coming up in 6 weeks and I need to work on my Songbooks before reprinting them.

Any help would be appreciated.

How did you delete the kmh files ? Via Hosters Edit dialog or via Windows explorer ?

Why I ask this is because if you delete them via Hosters edit dialog it also removes them from the existing database but just deleting the kmh file in explorer won't register them missing unless you rebuild the database with none of the Song types to index selected or rebuild the database before adding folders to the list so as to build an empty songs.mdb.

It is being worked on, can't give an exact date.

Do you get a message appear giving a reason like duplicated or any other message ? wondering if it is anything to do with you deleting them in explorer. If they are all in one folder you could try opening the folder and look for the "ImportedFiles.txt" file and just for backup purposes rename it something like "temp-ImportedFiles.txt" then see if they will import, if they still don't import see if it created a new "ImportedFiles.txt" if so open it in word or notepad and see if it is empty or list the song paths. If empty you could replace it with the renamed file. Alternatel you said you imported them via the Build Database function, have you tried reimporting them via the Index Hard drive Files dialog ? You may have to un-tick the hide indexed tracks box to see them appear in the lower window, if they show as already imported you could just select them and re-import.

I may be able to tell something if you can send me a sample as mentioned in my PM.

Re: Hoster 5.09 Has been released May 28, 2013

We were able to find and fix this issue with the Temp Files, it only occurred when using .zip files and the Import Songs\Build Songs Database\Zip selection. We have fixed this, and some other issues and should be releasing Version 5.10.01 in the next day!

To get the latest version, go to the Help Menu\Check for Updates.

You can also download 5.10.01 from here http://www.mtu.com/upgrades/hoster.htm#V510

I get an error message when installing.

"Error 1706. No valid source could be found for product Hoster. The Window installer cannot continue."

But it did continue and finished installing, rebooting and everything seems the same for me.

Bryan,
Nfountai is not having a crash issue, he has 2 other problems,
1) the Hoster manuel doesn't open when he selects it.
2) when he right clicks on a playlist song and selects to add to a singers list it will only add the first time, once he has one song added to a particular singers list no more will add through this right click option to the same singers list.

nfountai, If what I have written above is wrong please correct it.

The 1706 error has been around a long time, you are told to ignore it on one of the install pages, I get this every time I re-install, just ignore and it still installs correct.

Roy,
Thanks for the Info! I got lost between a few of the issues in the thread.

Nfountai,
Please contact me at Support@mtu.com so I can try to setup a time to get into your system, I will be out of the office the rest of this week, Wends-Friday (17-19). So if you had some time today, that would work good, if not might have to wait till next week.

Re: Hoster 5.09 Has been released May 28, 2013

My wife's 16 gB ram Shuttle P.C. had a crash last weekend with 5.09.02. It was during a song and the song just stopped abruptly and then Hoster closed out instantly w/o a warning message. This is her second one since installing 5.09.02 over 5.09 beta 3 about a month ago. She never had any before with the beta 3. She is afraid to use this for a karaoke contest coming up. When she opened hoster back up the extended screen only filled half the screen vertically. My laptop has seen several of these abrupt stops too in the past month with 5.09.02. Anyone else see these at all?

Bryant,
In the Beta forum you will see there were some fixed crashes under certain circumstances with 5.09, that are fixed in 5.10.01. You may wanna give it a try and see how it does for you.
