Re: Hoster will not open

I deleted the songs mdb file and deleted all of the Mirc files. It still does not open. Please let me know of next steps. Also please let me know of any legal sites to purchase karaoke songs on line that I can transfer right into Hoster once we get it to open again. Thanks, Greg

Re: Hoster will not open

See my post from a week or so ago. Sounds like the same problem I had, which I never did figure. Lucky to have lots of computers laying around. I uninstalled to free the license & installed on a different laptop. I never did figure out the problem.

Yes it does sound the same problem I will report it myself to the support team and see if they have a solution.

In the meantime try this: Uninstall Hoster first, then from the Windows start in the search field at the bottom type "regedit.exe" without the quote marks, you should see it appear in the results window, click on it to start it. then follow the instructions hear from item 3 onwards (as windows 7 is slightly different): http://www.mtu.com/kb/kb/index.php?a...id=26&relid=10

If you get to item 6 and don't see any of the items then that will mean they were removed with the uninstall but if they show complete them, this will remove any settings that may be corrupted and make your computer as if it had not had Hoster on it before so you will lose all previous settings.
Next look in your C drive and see if you still have a folder named MTU there, if you do open that and see if you have a folder named Hoster, if these are not present then that is because they were removed with the uninstal but if the Hoster folder is still there rename it to something like Hoster 2 this will act as a backup.
Now try re-installing Hoster and let us know if you have any luck.

Regarding legal downloads. This is a very debatable point at the moment but it seems the USA laws are different to the rest of the world on this and most sites in the US are only legal for Home use and not for commercial use. I will ask others answer you on this point.

An other after thought question, When you restarted Hoster for the first time after doing the above, did it try and rebuild the database before failing to open ?

Re: Hoster will not open

Yes it did; but it would not open after rebuilding the data base.

I brought my computer to a repair shop yesterday and they told me that the registry files were corrupted and that I would have to completely wipe the hard drive and reinstall all programs and files in order to get Hoster to open. Does this sound right to you? Thanks for your help.

Did you not try the instructions as shown in post 7 where I explain how to delete the Registry files for Hoster?

They should fix it as I have been in touch with support on this and they believe that the instructions I gave you were correct to repair your Hoster.

If you do as the shop suggested you still need to uninstall Hoster first to free up the re installing, try my fix above first it will be a lot easier than restoring your computer.
