Re: Post Hoster 5.07 Problems Here

Sat. Nite with my trusty settings of Hoster only running and remove silence ON , added silence at 3 sec, before and after, fade in/out at 3 sec, and prevent audio dropout at asuper-safe 20, I threw VDJ in the mix now and put that on. Crashed after eight songs, hmm, but others have had crashes w/o vdj on, and I found one of my posts three weeks ago that stated I had not turned vdj onceand had still crashed with these settings at 2 seconds.

Then;
Last night with trusty settings of 3 Sec. And no vdj on, I ran thru 80 singers with NO crashes.

I now wonder if the two second settings increase the chances and/or having vdj on also increase the chances, so far with the trusty 3 sec. Settings AND vdj off I have gone about 700 singers w/o a crash. Also thinking that perhaps I was over due for a random crash andmy time was UP Sat.night and itjust happened.

Really really weird. Let's keep plugging away as I really really really don't wish to go back to the crashless 4.09D, butIcan't let my wife move on yet to Hoster 5.x.

Bryant,

Have you contacted your computer manufacturer to have them walk you through a machine test?

For my computer all I do is hit F12 during the boot sequence. It allows me to check all the hardware onboard to include the ram.

No, I haven't, but I will. Curious why you ask that as I have stated before all other programs work perfectly and better and faster on this machine that deal with videos. I can even play karaoke files on vdj perfectly using their tempo, key change, along with other effects, on two players at the same time and even split the screen so you can see both; and stop and restart one or the other and move ahead or behind at any pont in the song without ever going out of sync either. Vdj is not even originally designed to use as a karaoke program, I use it only for DJ,ing and video'ing as it is originally intended for.

Bryant,

Just a shot in the dark.

We have near identical computers.

Mine does not crash and yours does.

I don't believe it is the programming.

The only thing that you and I do different is how the extended monitors are connected, yours is HDMI and mine is VGA.

Just trying to assist.

Re: Post Hoster 5.07 Problems Here

It seems to me that it's to do with when you use vdj, as you stated above all was going OK until you quote "I threw VDJ in the mix now and put that on. Crashed after eight songs,"

I also stated before that I don't run VDJ while Hosters running as there was a conflict on the video side for me.
I know Kod stated he runs VDJ at the same time, just wondering if he is showing video through VDJ or just using it as an audio player in which case the video conflict wouldn't occur ?

Roy,

I "do not" ever run video's. I use VDJ for mp3 audio only!

I "only" use a Singer's monitor (on purpose), so video's are of no use to me...

I wanted to believe that at first, too, Roy, but I found this post of mine about a monthago.

Virtual DJ was never even turned on and neither was McAfee Antivirus. Well, Hoster crashed about 2 1/2 hours into the show. Had to restart Hoster. When I did, the singers's screen and two 70 inch screens showed 1/2 size vertically (okay horizontally though) and had to take a few seconds to resize to full screen. This was the first time Hoster crashed when it was the only program on and running.

The only thing different that I did try was fade in and out was 2 sec., instead of 3 sec. And remove silence's added silence was 2 sec., before and after, instead of 3 sec. At least I know that this has nothing to do with Vdj, but maybe the settings. Oh, it crashed after a hdmp3g song. So I have had crashes with all file types now.

I'm gonna go back and use Hoster only running with these settings at 3 sec. Instead of 2. So far, this combination hasn't had a crash yet after maybe 3 or 4 hundred singers total."

Also, others not using vdj have reported similar crashes.. Still hoping for a cure.

No problem, I understand and do appreciate all the advice from you, and please keep it coming.. The reason why I am thinking it has got to be something in the program is that others with other types of computers and with or without VDJ and w/o hdmi or minivga have gotten the exact same type of crash, at the very end of the song. This same laptop also works flawlessly with the verson 4 Hoster. Again, please keep the advice coming in as I do understand our computers are close relatives, although not identical.
