Re: Preview Screen Garbled, extended's very clear??

Hi Marco, this was the original full thread that wrahn posted when he had this problem on a Lenova laptop. http://forum.mtu.com/showthread.php?...led#post110212
In it he upgraded to the beta driver 290.53, I wonder if that particular beta driver is still available for you to try from the downloads page ?Unfortunately it doesn't seem to have helped bryant but then he is using a Dell computer, might just work for you.

Hi Roy, I can't locate that particular driver, i am using the most recent one from the Lenovo site which is 290.56, any newer release's from the nvidia site don't work for me. I have managed to get it working by doing the following which is however painful as is the following explaination, the process is to right click on the hoster icon and select "run with graphics processor" then selecting "change graphics processor" i then add the hoster program and select the high performance nvidia processor as its preferred processor, press apply and close. When i then run hoster the only way it works with good graphics on both screens is by again Right click on the hoster icon and select "run with graphics processor" and then select the integrated graphics (default). This all seems a bit strange, if i don't select the default prior to running i get the grabled grahics again. I have made some screen shots if it is easier to understand, can they be posted here?
Thanks
Marco

Hi Marco, your description is very good, the option you describe right clicking on Hoster icon does not appear on my computer but then I'm running ATI graphics and don't have a choice of using intergrated. maybe bryant can try this as well.
I will drop a note into support to take a look at this particular thread as it seems it's something new with these new type graphic cards.

That seems to be similar to what I have had to do which is to completely disable the nVidea dedicated card and force all the programs run on the onboard video card, which is not recommended by most programs as satisfactory for video or karaoke use. Also, we spent the 300 dollars for the dedicated graphics card we can't use for what we were hoping for. As dedicated cards are recommended for Hoster too, but for the most part, the newer ones seem to work well, in fact, my really old ones work Okay.

I also cannot come out the hdmi port (which is the nvidea card), and have to come out that mini display adaptor that Dell now uses then to a vga cable into a vga adaptor, then another vga cable out to singers monitor and several composite wires to audience TV's. Spent a bit beforehand for 30 ft. lengths of Hdmi cable and an expensive hdmi amplified splitter, but as of yet can't use it, but am still trying every driver one at a time on the nvidia download page in hopes of getting this to work as it should.

Bryant, The weird thing is i am always using the HDMI port on my new laptop (e530) no matter which graphics i switch to. I have my original laptop (e520) which is also a lenovo and it works fine but it has the ati graphics but only 1gb of video memory. Ron hopefully support will have a suggestion.

MJE, please post or email me those screen shots. Apparently, if you are running through the hdmi out of the video card, you are in fact, using the nvidea, and you must also be on the laptop screen if it is NOT garbled any more! I'd really like to discuss this with you. As I previously said, I cannot run with the nvidea out and nvidea also on laptop, hence the garbling, so I disable the nvidea entirely and cannot use that card at all.

Whats confusing to me is that you said you just changed the default for hoster to high performance nvidea, because when I right click that second time on Hoster "run with graphics", it says high performance default, NOT integrated graphics default.

Yes it is strange as the nvidia icon in the task bar also shows it is using nvidia. Even thou to make it work i have selected the integrated. I have attached the screen shot hopefully it helps.

Hmm, really weird for sure! What is the setting in your " global settings".. The tab to the left of program settings??

Bryant, It is set for Auto Select. I have tried to change it to either the integrated or the High performance and no good. The only way it works is as previously described.

Okay, great. Thanx. I did exactly as you said and Voila! I got clear graphics on the laptop screen and clear on extended monitor using the hdmi coming from the nvidia video card. I am assuming, (although not 100% correct) that the nvidea card was working on the extended monitor and intel onboard on the laptop screen(which can't be changed). I am not sure if the onboard video card is diverting its signal through the hdmi out of the dedicated card or not. I'll let you know.

The other thing that worked was when I totally disabled the nvidia dedicated card from control panel and ran a vga adaptor from the Dell mini-display, then to a vga adaptor, then a vga cord to sibgers monitor and a composite wire from the adaptor to an audience lyrics. Very bulky equipment on the DJ table, however, and no use of this expensive video card.
