It has nothing to do with the "preview window" from the Playlist overlaying on top of the Display when it is full-screen. However, it must have been that "Gremlin". Finally, turned on my laptop tonight, doubled-clicked the Singers Display to make it full screen & the "preview screen" did not appear on top. WEIRD.....but I'M HAPPY!

Your thinking off the tick box in the intermission tab for always on.
From the preview tab, there are 2 tick boxes, 1 to undock the display and the other to make it always on top if it is undocked.

This is printed in the manuel: If you want the undocked Preview Display to always be above other applications, click Always on top.
It was introduced in version 5.02: this is printed in the list of changes: CHANGED Undocked Preview Display "Always On Top" - We added a new checkbox in the Tools menu > Show Display dialog > Preview Display tab to allow those who want the Preview Display to always be on top to click it. When unclicked, the Display does not appear over other application screens.
