Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering
That is a great suggestion, Roy. I believe this is disabled by default, but the OS will pop up and suggest you enabled it, so many people do. This should not be enabled on Hoster systems as this service can tie up the CPU causing audio glitches.

Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering
Roy I couldn't find a tick box but did find how to set the HD to "better performance" mode which should help... My Norton was on with all the whistles and bells running, and I shut them all off... So hopefully that does the trick, I'll find out tonight. Otherwise Hoster is running fine for me.

Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering
Randy, even if you don't recycle files on that drive, Xp does. If you have never defragmented that drive I am betting it is badly fragmented. The first thing I do after installing and updating a Microsoft OS is to defrag it. You would be very surprised how messy Microsoft is with their installs. Where the minimum percentage of free space is 25% the system speed degrades even after 50% down to that 25%. I always run my computers with as close to 50% free space as I can.
As far as updating goes in the last year there have been many improvements to Internet Explorer and Windows Media player that would help improve your operation. Even if you haven't upgraded your Hoster to current versions, the upgrades from Microsoft do help make the system run better and will not hurt the operation of Hoster. We do not recommend doing any of the hardware updates through Microsoft though. Those are better done through the manufacturer's source. I would check especially for your sound card since you checked a year ago. Jon, the box you are looking for is at the bottom of the General Tab (first page that opens) and says next to it "Allow Indexing Service to Index this disk for fast file search." Make sure this box doesn't have an X in it for all drives attached to the computer.

Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering
Well I found the box guys, it's already checked. Well the bad news is it seems to be getting worse now (more frequent)... I have a 320 GB Flex drive now and am coping my KMH and KMA files to it, and it will be well below 50% of disc space. I'll give that a try tonight and see how that goes...
