Re: 5.0 Upgrade

I'll try to get a list of at least fixes and upgrades if not some of the new features we have already tested and will release. Dale is right in our being cautious.

I was trying to think of 5.00 releasing by March end, but that is close, and may be mid April, or we may need to cut some of the new features we planned.

The more I see in these Forums about bugs we have fixed... some of them extremely complex... the more I want to get 5.00 out, and start on 5.10 with the rest of the new features.

One major feature we are on this week is a new Tools menu command that will allow you to enable/disable individual CPU/RAM intensive features we have added since 3.321a. For example, the Show Display Intermission's "Visualization" effect when playing Audio files consumes an incredible amount of both CPU power and takes about 50-60MB of RAM. Disabling this feature can make a major difference.

Our goal in 5.00 is to offer users still on 3.321a a means to upgrade and still run on their OLDER computers. Then, they can enable one new feature at a time to see if it is stable on their system. This offers the best of upgrading (bug fixes, upgrades some new features) while not requiring a new computer.

NOTICE: If your computer is XP with 1GB RAM, and you don't upgrade to Win7 - which we recommend DEFINITELY NOT doing - Hoster 5.00 may still not run without 2GB RAM. We don't know yet. Also, it depends on what other services are running along with Hoster that consume RAM.

Re: 5.0 Upgrade

Let me understand, Having windows Xp I should not upgrade to 5.0. If this is correct how do I get my shut down problem fixed.
Re: Hoster 4.32 first run

The issue Susan is referring to is a bug. We have fixed this and it will be released in version 5.0.

I think you are misunderstanding the statement that admin wrote.
They are saying they don't recommend upgrading XP to Windows 7. If you have XP with only 1GB ram it may still not run correct, they are recommending XP with 2GB ram to be able to run Hoster 5.xxx

So if you have XP with 2GB ram or more you should be OK.
