I don't know. We've never offered a "prize" for an upgrade. :w

No, the 12-months period and $69.95 will remain, and those who still have months remaining will be able to install 5.00. We've made a lot of progress the past two weeks. We're on Tempo change, and getting the Lyrics to sweep faster/slower with the changed tempo is a real challenge. :e :r

Admin, or dale, or whoever knows. Besides the song data base, will there be any advantage at all for the hoster lite guys to upgrade? If not, i'll upgrade now, and skip 5.0 Thanks much, George

If it was me George I would go ahead and upgrade now and then look at 5.0 when it is released. As Admin stated they are working on getting Tempo change working. The audio portion is working and they are working on sync changes that will have to work with that. To me that is one of the best items to recommend 5.0.

You are right that you won't get much until it is release. First they have to consider that they do have competition in the world of karaoke software. Second is if they say were are doing a particular feature and it doesn't work out then everyone is disappointed. So it is better to not say much until it is complete and working.

As most of the regulars on the forum that know me. Know my saying is, "If It Ain't Broke, Don't Fix It". I last updated last august i think it was. Hoster is working like a NASA space program. Knock on wood, a freeze, or glich, or program closure, shut down, is just not in my vocabulary. Hoster has passed even my critical demands. I use it before my show on auto, after my show. I've closed it down, just to have a fella give me a $20 tip to reopen, and let him sing a song to his wife. Close it down, reopen. After running hoster for 6 hours straight. If it ain't broke...don't fix it.

However with that being said. Thats works for ME. The new feature upgrades on hoster are always state of the art improvements. I have most of mtu's programs, and in my home studio i can rewrite song lyrics, in different keys, different tempo's etc. But i highly recommend in most cases for most folks to grab those upgrades, and song data base updates. However i don't mind typing in my monthly's. Small price to pay for a stable hosting program.....:w

George You're Right... Hoster will offer any KJ the most stable program that is constantly evolving to satisfy the feature requests of their loyal customers, and the cutting edge requirements to stay ahead of the competition... I, like you, don't use or require all the new features that are in the developement stages... but that being said, it's nice to have all the bells & whistles that the latest program upgrades offer, and then use what I want, and kind of experiment with the others once my feeble old brain catches up with the need, or if my competition is offering something that I need to integrate into my show in order to stay on top! Plus I can always reload a favorite version, if I wish to have proof that all is working correctly before I use the latest version in a show! Upgrade!!! MTU won't put out a product that didn't get the proper testing... Now N.A.S.A... that's another can of worms!:r

Re: 5.0 Upgrade

I'll try to get a list of at least fixes and upgrades if not some of the new features we have already tested and will release. Dale is right in our being cautious.

I was trying to think of 5.00 releasing by March end, but that is close, and may be mid April, or we may need to cut some of the new features we planned.

The more I see in these Forums about bugs we have fixed... some of them extremely complex... the more I want to get 5.00 out, and start on 5.10 with the rest of the new features.

One major feature we are on this week is a new Tools menu command that will allow you to enable/disable individual CPU/RAM intensive features we have added since 3.321a. For example, the Show Display Intermission's "Visualization" effect when playing Audio files consumes an incredible amount of both CPU power and takes about 50-60MB of RAM. Disabling this feature can make a major difference.

Our goal in 5.00 is to offer users still on 3.321a a means to upgrade and still run on their OLDER computers. Then, they can enable one new feature at a time to see if it is stable on their system. This offers the best of upgrading (bug fixes, upgrades some new features) while not requiring a new computer. :c

NOTICE: If your computer is XP with 1GB RAM, and you don't upgrade to Win7 - which we recommend DEFINITELY NOT doing - Hoster 5.00 may still not run without 2GB RAM. We don't know yet. Also, it depends on what other services are running along with Hoster that consume RAM.

Let me understand, Having windows Xp I should not upgrade to 5.0. If this is correct how do I get my shut down problem fixed.
Re: Hoster 4.32 first run

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The issue Susan is referring to is a bug. We have fixed this and it will be released in version 5.0.

Crazycarl:?

I think you are misunderstanding the statement that admin wrote.
They are saying they don't recommend upgrading XP to Windows 7. If you have XP with only 1GB ram it may still not run correct, they are recommending XP with 2GB ram to be able to run Hoster 5.xxx

So if you have XP with 2GB ram or more you should be OK.
