Re: Hoster 4.21 Vs. 4.22
During my Thursday night show (7/22) Hoster stopped four times between 8:15 pm and 9:30 pm and did not stop any more that night. The Bar is nicely air conditioned...
On Staurday night I did a private show (9:30pm to 1:30am) in a hot garage (95 degrees) and Hoster did not stop even once! It was very hot Saturday in North Carolina (99 before the sun set) and I was only using a the USB cooling fan mounted under my laptop. This tells me I definitely don't have Laptop heat problem. And, if I "am" having a software problem, why didn't it stop any more Thursday and why didn't it stop at all under the very hot conditions Saturday night? (Rhetorical question, I guess) Go figure...

Re: Hoster 4.21 Vs. 4.22
If I wanted to be funny, I would say maybe the bar is too cool, but I know it isn't a joke to you.
If there were others still having problems we might be able to figure this out, but no one else is reporting this now. MTU has been over the program with a finetooth comb and cannot find any more problems that would make it stop. There is only one other thing I can offer at this time. And that is try turning off unnecessary processes. There is a list at the following website of things you can try. http://www.blackviper.com/ They have a section for each operating system. Less processes means more time for Hoster.

Re: Hoster 4.21 Vs. 4.22
Just a thought, if it doesn't happen at home or in a hot garage could it have anything to do with the power supply at your Thursday night show ?
Perhaps you could try a power smoothing device. Another thought is, if your computer has wireless enabled turn that off as perhaps it is picking up some interference at that bar. Do you have any extra things plugged in to your usb outputs for your Thursday night show ? as these all drag power from your computer. I know these are long shot ideas but we seem to be running out of suggestions. ![]() Roy. Last edited by Roy Dennis; July 26th, 2010 at 06:23 AM. |

Re: Hoster 4.21 Vs. 4.22
that was one of my suggestions, there are 2 major causes of shutting down 1). either not enough power supply and 2). was over heating..if there is a way he could see the cpu temp, idle or running..

The visualization causing Hoster to freeze I don't believe would be a power problem but instead would be a processor capability problem. Best thing to carry with you in your equipment would be a meter to check voltage levels and a ground checker to make sure outlet is grounded correctly. This would especially be helpful if you play in a lot of different venues. Then you can show the owner that he has a problem.

Re: Hoster 4.21 Vs. 4.22
I DO NOT suspect a HEAT PROBLEM! It ran well Saturday night under extreme heat conditions!
I DO NOT suspect a POWER PROBLEM. On Thursday's Show I run through a power conditioner! I run through a (single) Surge Protector connected to the power conditioner. I have done that from day one of moving to Hoster. I do not daisy chain protectors. I only run a USB fan in one of my USB ports. Nothing else! I keep my Wireless connection disabled unless I need to download something related to Hoster. Dale, I went to Black Viper and you need to be a Computer Geek to understand and follow their instructions. Although I am pretty Computer literate, this is well above my head. Although I love Hoster and don't want to, I'm beginning to wonder if I should look elsewhere for another program. I just can't believe I'm the only one having problems (out of the people using Hoster with Win7). I tend to believe I'm the only one reporting it. Perhaps others are just living with it... Maybe the problems I'm having are only happening with those using Windows 7! Maybe those numbers (Win7) are very small! I just don't know, but it's getting very frustrating...

Re: Hoster 4.21 Vs. 4.22
I am still having problems with Hoster freezing & shutting down when BA is running, even without Visualizations. It seemed to go away with 4.22 as long as I let BA run completely automatic & not manually stop or start songs. I reported that I used BA in that manner. It was also reported that BA would freeze after repeatly pressing the "next" (right arrow) button. 4.22 did address both of these problems, as this was discussed in the Beta Forum.
4.22 seemed to fix this for me at first ........but this problem has returned & now when a song is playing in BA, and I hit "stop", the song will not stop. When I "X" out of BA, the song continues to play. The song playing in BA will not stop until I "X" out of Hoster. Once that happens, I have repeated crashes. KOD, you're not the only one having problems with BA. I am running Vista. No one has suggested cleaning the Registry, so I'm going to try that next. |

Re: Hoster 4.21 Vs. 4.22
Skybird74,
My problem does not seem to be related to BA. I shut BA down before I start my show and have not had any problems starting and stopping it. My problem is not Hoster freezing. My problem is Hoster stopping between songs. I can close Hoster and start it again with no problems and my playlist in tact, so it's really just a frustrating problem more than anything else. Most of the time the audience nevers knows anything has happened, because thank goodness, it's always happens between songs...

One thing that Skybird said brought to mind that when MTU came out with the BA and Visualizations, it was stated that some computers would not be able to handle this because both use a lot of memory, video memory and processor time. Have you tried running any shows without using the BA and visualizations at all? Laptops being the worst case because they use shared memory for video. What do you use for a power conditioner?

Re: Hoster 4.21 Vs. 4.22
Well, KOD already said his problem has nothing to do with BA.
My problems started with BA, but were only with visualizations running. Otherwise, I could always run it in the background and/or start & stop songs manually. I didn't start having these new problems until after 4.21 & now with 4.22. As I mentioned above, when I leave BA play a few songs for a BREAK when I only have a few singers, if I his STOP, then the song keeps playing. It even continues playing after I "X" out of BA, and the song will NOT stop playing until I "X" out of Hoster ![]() ![]() I am using the same computer, added a GIG of RAM & did all Microsoft Updates before upgrading Hoster from 4.21 to 4.22. However, I went from .NET 2.0 to 3.5. It was only after this update that I now have to BA problems with Songs that won't even STOP ![]() In just "looking" at my computer, I looked at Services Running & discovered that - next to .NET, it says "Stopped" instead of "Running". I don't know why or how to change it or even if I should ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Closing the BA window doesn't stop the BA song playing. It just closes the window off of the screen. The .Net service only runs when it is needed. It is not needed for running Hoster. It is used when installing Hoster. That is why it is needed as far as Hoster goes. Kod does use the BA if only before his shows he is still turning it on.

Re: Hoster 4.21 Vs. 4.22
Because BA has already taken up space and is not cleared.

Re: Hoster 4.21 Vs. 4.22
I did my Thursday night (8/29) Show without turning BA on at all. Hoster never shut down all night! I thought BA had nothing to do with my problem, but now ... who knows!
Dale, My power conditioner is a Panamax Max 1500 surge protector/line conditioner...

Re: Hoster 4.21 Vs. 4.22
Skybird,
A power conditioner regulates the power to a steady flow so that you don't get spikes in power. Computers work best when the power is steady.
