Could be a "Ground Loop" (the sound of your internal workings of the laptop being amplified). Radio Shack has a "Ground Loop Isolator" Gets rid of the squeal.

WWW.radioshack.com Go here and Search for Ground Loop Isolator or Ground Loop isolation transformer.

The tranformer action does not allow the ground to continue to "Loop Around"
