Strange but workable I guess. My guess would be not enough video resources (memory) to maintain both screens when importing.
As far as the drives working then not then working again there is no telling, unless the testing is not waiting long enough for the drive to respond. However MTU did include an out for this. In the drive set-up you can force Hoster to accept the drive as good. On the right side you can click the button to tell Hoster the drive is good.
