Songbook keeps missing some items
Been having some trouble capturing all my songs in the song book.
Computer Type - Laptop Operating System- Windows 7 Processor speed-(- ? Ram in computer- 4Mb) Hoster Version- 5.34.1 A detailed description of the problem. Having a number of problems creating songbook, but the main problem is that it is omitting many songs, usually for a full original disc. For example I loaded in Sound Choice SC2202 tracks 1 through 16. When I go to create the song book I see all the tracks missing. But it I tell hoster I loaded Sound Choice brand and SC2202 disk # it shows all the tracks. It also gives me Book ID of 1072XX for each of the tracks. But if I search for those songs in the newly created song book they are not there. Nothing for book ID 1072-01 through 107216. I do see the KMA files in the folder where they should be. What gives? How do I trouble shoot this? Thanks for any help. I love the product and see its potential, but am having many learning curve problems and not getting much help. Yet. Smoky |

Re: Songbook keeps missing some items
First of, if you enter the book id of one of the missing songs into the search box does it find it and does it play if you add it to the playlist ?
If it does right click on it in the playlist and select "Edit Song", when that dialog opens check that the info entered into the artist and title fields is correct and also do you have any of the boxes at the bottom ticked like Duet, Hide in songbook or multiplex ? It would be helpful if you could attach a screenshot of this page. Now open the Songbook Dialog. what range of songs do you have selected ? Entire song book or one of the other options, also do you have the box ticked for exclude checked items ? If so which boxes do you have selected to exclude in the right hand panel ? Again it would be helpful if you could attach a screen shot of this dialog as well.

Re: Songbook keeps missing some items
Yes, Roy, it does find the book ID and also loads and plays the song.
But if I do not know the book ID, since song does not make it to the songbook, then I have to go to the external hard drive where the kmh file resides, and get the disk id from the file name, then search by disk id which then brings up the song and lists the book id. Such a hardship. But once all that happens, the song plays fine with both graphics and music. If I make a note of the book ID, I can then bring the song back using the book ID. I guess I could edit the songbook itself in using the wordpad (or MSFT word), but if I create a new songbook later I suspect it would be left out again. Example: I imported Sound Choice disk SC2202 which contains Elvis Presley Inspirational songs. None of the songs make it to the song book, although a few are duplicated by other book IDs. But one of the songs that does not make it at all and is not duplicated by any other disk is “You'll Never Walk Alone” which, after getting the disk # back from the hard drive is book id 107201. Then any time I search again by book id 107201 it loads and plays fine. It is the only version of that song I have. I have taken screen shots as you asked. Where do I send them? Smoky |

When you press the reply to post button, the reply box shows a little paper clip at the top of the page. Selecting the clip takes you to another dialog for adding the screen shots to the post.

Re: Songbook keeps missing some items
Roy:
I do not see a paper clip anywhere on the page. I do see a box at top of my message area that has a drop down box labeled attachments but when I click on it a clear single row white space drops down. Also below the message area is a place called manage attachments. When I click on that I can browse to up to 5 attachments. I did that and clicked on 4 attachments. But when I hit the reply button, I did not see anything in the posted reply I made above. OK now I see an upload button I missed before. Maybe this message will contain my 4 attachments. Smoky |

Re: Songbook keeps missing some items
Looking at your song edit .jpg. It would have shown more if you had highlighted the song then all the bottom boxes would have shown whether you had any 3 tick boxes at the bottom selected, I notice in the genre column it looks like you have it set to "Acappella". I'm wondering if this is a clue.
If you now look at your MTU.jpg. I notice you have the box ticked for Use Exclude checked items. Now in the right hand payne click on the + sign of the genre this will expand the list, have you got the acappella box ticked ? if you have that will prevent any songs with that genre appearing, while you have that list expanded check you don't have any others ticked that you want to appear in the songbook. Alternately untick the "Exclude checked items" so that it does not exclude anything. One other point, in that box I see you set the date range from the 13th to 18th and todays date is the 19th so it would not print anything that was entered today. See if the excluded folders is the problem if not report back.

Re: Songbook keeps missing some items
Forget what I said about the date, I was forgetting that I'm probably 6 hours ahead of you as I'm from UK.

Re: Songbook keeps missing some items
OK Roy.
I don't know how that showed up in the genre column. Certainly not an acapella song. I had been looking in the genre edit box in the center of the edit song page which was showing unknown. Figured whatever current genre that was previously set would show up there. At any rate am now going to open all the plus marks. Hade figured of one of the plus marks had been checked, then the total genre box would somehow indicate this. Learning curve lol. I will report back after a few minutes of checking there. I thought I did uncheck the Use Exclude checkbox, but now am going to check all of this. In the meantime another thought occurred to me. I do have both a user and an administrator area setup within windows. Since I am the only user on this laptop I was not concerned which user was active whenever I input new songs from cd or any other hoster function, especially since all my songs are input to the same external drive. I am wondering if the Hoster database gets confused whenever I change back and forth from the user to the Administrator environment. Smoky |

Re: Songbook keeps missing some items
OK. I think I have now confirmed this to be a problem, as the database just showed up as corrupt in 1 user area and non corrupt in the other area. But the good area is missing some songbook listings as well as some info about the reinput cdgs. The external hard drive has all the kmh files.
How can I rebuild my data files? I would like to use the CDG files on my external hard drive, but rebuild the files from scratch that reside on the internal drive under program data\mtu\hoster. If I can do this it will save me from having to reinput a great many CDGs. I am guessing if I delete or rename the songs.mdb file I can rebuild it from scratch, using the build database button on the import songs menu??? Smoky |

Re: Songbook keeps missing some items
Well what I would do is first off is create a backup, from the help menu select Backup/Restore and save that file first, that way you can recover to where you are now.
Once you've done that open Hoster Tools Menu/Hoster Data Folder, then close Hoster but keep the data folder open. Now look for the "HosterInfoIndexed.ini" and delete it, then find the songs.mdb and delete that. Now close the datafolder and restart Hoster, Then open Tools/Songs database/Build database dialog. The list of folders should now appear empty, Now either use the Add folders Button or the Add Folders/Subfolders if all your folders are on the external, it will gradually add all the folders with kma or kmh files to the rebuild list and should rebuild itself as the folders are added.

Re: Songbook keeps missing some items
Victory!
Roy I followed all your instructions and after a rebuild, I FOUND ALL MY SONGS. Now I have all 17,187 of them! Even more important, now I have a much better grasp of the ins and outs of getting Hoster to work they way I want. I really appreciate the time you spent with me. Also glad I am not tying up any more of your time. I hope that someday I know enough to be able to help a few other folks on this forum. I also hope that others reading this thread will avoid the mistake that I made. I have my laptop set up to allow 2 users and an administrator (owner). My wife used to be a user but she has migrated to her tablet. From now on I will only input songs from the owner position and make any required changes there. Some day I plan to dedicate a laptop to Holster only and use a second laptop for all non karaoke use. Thanks Roy! Smoky |

Re: Songbook keeps missing some items
Glad to hear that solved your problem. Once your completely satisfied that it working right you can delete the backup file if you created it. Perhaps create a new one so that you can return to a good point if things go wrong again.
I'll close this thread now your sorted, good luck for now ![]()
