I personnly don't have any HDBIN files so that is one thing different on your computer to mine.

I would suggest running next time with everything dissabled as before except RS and see if you get the crashes again, if so disable the RS again but let songs play to their natural end and see if they crash then, at least that might narrow it down to either the RS or just the ending of the songs.
If it plays OK with RS enabled then try next time enabling virtual dj, it's just a process of elimination to find what is causing it.
Will do exactly that tomorrow night, as Wednesday's gig is cancelled.
Thx, Roy

Re: Post Hoster 5.07 Problems Here

Hey folks, I have submitted a ticket for this problem, but that may take a few days, so I'm hoping someone here might have an answer since I have gigs the next 3 days. I played a party outside on June 30th and it was very hot. I was in the shade with a fan and laptop cooler pad. Hoster performed fantastic throughout the party. At 6:30PM I broke down and went to my next gig to play. Hoster played the first few songs, but it had echo and some instruments were missing so it sounded somewhat hollow. This happen once before with my desktop when it overheated but the next day everything returned to normal. After playing about 6 or 7 songs, any song I tried to add, the status would say "skip". I couldn't use Hoster at all so I tried "Hoster Prior", and the same thing happened. So then I went to Microstudio, and that wouldn't work either. I have a free player which I won't name and started it and it was able to play the songs but it didn't pick up about 10% of my karaoke songs, but it was enough to get me through the night. I figured the next day everything would straighten up with Hoster, and the next day I ran a few songs and Hoster played them. Didn't pay anymore attention to it. Yesterday, Wednesday, I had to take over for a friend of mine when his wife became sick. Got my laptop out, went to play. It played the first song and then did the same thing again. Every time you add a song it says "skip". Fortunately Microstudio worked so I was able to limp through the night. Today I redownloaded Hoster 5.07 to see if it would clear the problem, but it's still the same. Anyone have any suggestions?

In the search for songs and singers dialogue box there is a tickmark next to the word "skip" in the upper right, you need to uncheck that and you should be alright with the new songs added as ready"".

Re: Post Hoster 5.07 Problems Here

Last night was:
Okay, here's what I did last night:

I did Not have virtual DJ up in the background, had McAfee disabled again
Remove Silence was turned back on for all 62 songs in my four hour show. Again, tempo was disabled so must've been using old player. Fade in/out was left on at 3 seconds each. No B.A. as usual. Manual mode for playlist songs. 4 hour show with 62 songs and 8 mp3's with a little bit of moving around singers, renaming, skipping, deleting, using mp3 instabuttons, etc.

There were no crashes!

Oh, show machine is Dell XPS15z, i5, 8 gB ram, dual core 2.67 MHz, 7200 rpm 750 GB HD, 1 gB nvidia dedicated video card, all updates, tweaks and Hoster recommendations made on Windows 7 platform.

Friday night I'm going to run the identical setup again to see if I can go another night with this arrangement. Then Saturday I'll leave VirtualDJ up in the background.

I wonder if the fade in fade out at 3 seconds made a difference? I also wonder if the remove silence's add 3 sec. Between songs and 3 after end of song made a difference? 00

Re: Post Hoster 5.07 Problems Here

Friday night's setting were precisely the same as Thursday's as detailed in my last post.
It was only a three hour show with little editing done in the playlist and not as much use of the instabuttons as I typically do. I let most of the songs go to completion. I would shift-stop some that had longer than 10 seconds of audio after the singing part was over. This was pretty much the same crowd as I had last Friday when I had four crashes and that very last song even caused a crash.

There were no crashes last night, for the third night in a row.

The big differences between these two Friday nights was this Friday had McAfee disabled, no use of VDJ, fade in set at 3 sec. Instead of 2 sec. Fade out set at 3 sec. Instead of 2 sec., Remove silence had 3 sec. Added before audio instead of 2 sec., and 3 sec. Added after audio instead of 1 sec.

Have a gig tonight and will keep the same procedure going as last night except I will use a lot of VDJ before and during the show as I used to. Any further suggestions ( Roy) or anyone else after tonight?

No, do as you suggested just making the one alteration at a time, that should eventually pin point the problem.

Thanks Roy. The reason why I spend 3 or 4 nights on the same scenario is to avoid as much randomness as I can. For example, If a crash occurs 1 of 100 songs on average, mathematically it can still happen three times in a row or even not at all for 300 songs. I'd just hate to eliminate one source over a short period of time (say 40 songs), but all the time that source COULD have been the cause, without knowing. Then I would never get anywhere with any certainty.
Am I making any sense?

Anyway, I'll hammer on VDJ this week, and then add McAfee in next week, perhaps. Thinking way ahead here, what if I work back to where I was in the very beginning and getting no crashes with that beginning scenario that caused up to 4 a night. Then I'd still be worried about "when will it crash next".

Re: Post Hoster 5.07 Problems Here

I had another flawless show Thursday night with VirtualDJ running all night. I always keep it up every show because after every 4th or 5th Singer, I play a dance song. I also use it to play music before the show.

Tempo was enabled and Norton enabled. Fade in "0" ; Fade out "5"

I use Instabuttons frequently (I have 83 set up), at times one after the other in sequence while they are still playing. All are mp3's.

I have run with and without RS enabled and had no problems.

Because of some past problems with it, I never use BA...

I do still get "crashes," but they are very rare (sometimes one a month, sometimes longer)...

How often do you gig, Kod?

With remove Silence on, did you use and added silence between songs, such as before song audio starts and after song audio ends (in the remove silence options)?

Do you use videos with Virtual DJ before and during the show?

Was your crashes that you did have similar to mine (at the very end of a song after it has stopped completely)?

When you did crash and restart hoster, did the singers screen appear half-sized when it came back on?

Oh, also, what was your audio setting at, mine is at the default ten.

Bryant,

I do two to three shows a week.

My default Audio settings are: Auto Play Delay "2" ; Prevent Audio Dropouts "0."

My Remove Silence settings are at Hoster's beck and call. I never change it after Hoster removes silence.

No Video's in VirtualDJ, MP3's only!

Whenever Hoster crashes, it always comes back normally with Singers still in place...

Crashes have "always" been at the end of a song, never one one particular song. It's random...

Have a Show tonight...

Great, thanx for the info, what I meant about the remove silence delay's is not the "beck and call" part of hoster. There is an option in the remove silence dialogue box that allows you to place added silence before an after every song. I'm thinking my setting of 3 seconds before and three seconds after somehow conflict with another fade setting, but maybe not? The purpose for this is so that no song will jump right to the audio portion so quick that the singer will have to ask for a restart, and at the end sometimes in songs there are words that are spoken with no audio and the singer would get cut off. The added silence eliminates all those possibilities.

Show only lasted 2 hours and played mostly music for dancing. Will do using this scenario on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, however.

Bryant,

Sorry, I misunderstood...

Mine is set at the default setting; Before Audio Start: 2 ; After Audio End: 0 -- and I never change it!

What are you using for a computer and video card? Also, are you getting the same kind crashes I've been getting, those at the very completion of songs?

Trying to find as much common items as we can?

Really curious, do you have an antivirus running in the background, whether you are on line or not? If so, which one?

When i try that particular song at home it doesn't crash after it finishes so that makes it hard to identify the problem. The only thing in common is that when it does crash it is about 2 hours in to my show. The saving grace is that it is quick to get everything back up and running so not a major issue for me. Yes, I've had similar crashes (on Vista), 2-3 times a night with 5.07 - for no apparent reason it just decides to quit, sometimes while playing a disk in my separate machine and then just as I decide to play a song in Hoster, it just "stops responding" while I'm just looking at it. I don't use remove silence and this can happen even if I don't have BA turned on. I'm hoping 5.08 fixes this.[/quote]

Sky, do you have any antivirus that starts up and runs in the background whether or not you are on line or not.

I never have anything running in the background. I stopped using 5.07 a month ago. I have been using 5.08B1 with no crashes. It crashed only when using BA (I would stop & start it several times) & also used Tempo during the same Show. I have been running BA the last 4 shows with no problems, but I also I turn down the volume & keep BA running, when I have to play a disk in my separate player (instead of hitting Stop).
