Hoster will not open

Working fine just a few days ago. I did install the Mirc system around that time. Could that have caused a problem?

What is the "Mirc system" you installed? Please describe.

Have you tried doing a computer restore to a previous point in time prior to installing the "Mirc system"?

Re: Hoster will not open

Mirc is a karaoke song download site (see www.karaokeinfo.com). I've been using it for many years, but recently transferred it from an old computer to the same one I have (had) Hoster on. Two other programs were also installed at that time-- Power CDG (see www.************.com) and MP3+g Toolz. When Hoster wouldn't open yesterday (one hour before a party of 50 was due to arrive at the house), I did a system restore with a restore date prior to the time I installed the two new programs. That had no effect. Then in desperation, I purchased the upgrade to Hoster on the mtu website (even though I already had the latest version). This didn't work either. I then uninstalled and reinstalled the program several times using the registration code I received when I purchased the upgrade. This had no effect. Now I'm not sure what to do to get it back, and am also interested in finding out what caused the problem so I can avoid a repeat. BTW, I'm running Windows 7 and a few months ago I made all of the system changes as directed by MTU. Thanks very much for any help you can provide.

Greg

Re: Hoster will not open

MIRC is a file sharing site, you open up your own computer to others to take songs from your computer and is basically illegal, I would think it is open to virus hacking as well, people can even copy your Hoster program so I would not be surprised if this is what started your problem. It may have just corrupted your database so try this.

Open C\MTU\Hoster folder, find your songs.mdb file and delete it. Then try starting Hoster but make sure you have any drives with your music files on connected before starting as it should look for these and rebuild the database before opening. If you see the dialog stating that it's rebuilding don't stop it or you will spoil the process, once the database is rebuilt it should open as normal.
If it doesn't come back and tell us.

Re: Hoster will not open

I deleted the songs mdb file and deleted all of the Mirc files. It still does not open. Please let me know of next steps. Also please let me know of any legal sites to purchase karaoke songs on line that I can transfer right into Hoster once we get it to open again. Thanks, Greg

Re: Hoster will not open

See my post from a week or so ago. Sounds like the same problem I had, which I never did figure. Lucky to have lots of computers laying around. I uninstalled to free the license & installed on a different laptop. I never did figure out the problem.

An other after thought question, When you restarted Hoster for the first time after doing the above, did it try and rebuild the database before failing to open ?
