Post Hoster 5.07 Problems Here

Version 5.07 released May 7, 2012.

Click here to read the changes, and download the new code.

We changed the Installation program so it preserves your "prior" Hoster, renaming it to "HosterPrior" with a new Desktop icon created for it. Then it installs Hoster 5.07 as your new "Hoster", using your pre-existing Desktop icon.

Re: Post Hoster 5.07 Problems Here

You indicated that the Remove Silence default delay is set at 2. When I go to the Remove Silence screen the delay is at 0. If I leave it at 0 the garbled problems still exist if there is a key change. As previously reported, if I set the delay to 1, the problem goes away.

Re: Post Hoster 5.07 Problems Here

I just uploaded 5.07 and did some editing on my song data base and picked the file my songs were in to do a build database and now I can't find any of my songs. Looking through my files they are still there, but now Hoster won't read them. I don't know what a DSN is and I'm frustrated... please someone tell me how to get my songs back! I had over 40,000

Did you edit in Hoster edit dialog or some other way ?
Did you edit before loading 5.07 ?
What did you edit ?
Have you tried starting the HosterPrior version ?
Are you seeing an error box regarding DSN if so can you state exactly what it says.

Yes I edited before 07, I was editing and deleting songs in my database, and I did try opening prior and it would let me. I just need to know how to get my data back. I had it in a file called MTU\Hoster\songs\mdb and I added that to my files to include but it just erased them

One of the questions Roy asked you," Did you try the prior version to see if you songs were available in that version". Also, do you have a backup of your songs?

When I stated Prior what I mean is when you install this new version it should leave your previouse version on your desktop but rename it HosterPrior, so you should see 2 Hoster icons one will start the new 5.07 and the other will start whatever version you had previously, is that what you mean when you say you "and I did try opening prior and it would let me" ?

The next thing you say is "and I added that to my files to include "
Where did you Add it ?
You shouldn't have to add that file anywhere songs.mdb should stay in C:/MTU/Hoster folder.

Try this see if it gets you going, Open your C:/MTU/Hoster folder delete the songs.mdb. then find "songs_backup.mdb" and rename it songs.mdb
See if that gets you started.

I had that happen in 5.06. I went into edit songs to delete a duplicate and it somehow deleted my whole database.
PITA, but just do a rebuild and you should be good to go!

I just discovered another problem with a Music Maestro Disk. It is MM6398 track 1, "Bringin' It Back". It has the garbled sound also if the key is lowered but what is different about this song is; If remove silence is on or off and you set the start song delay at any number, 0 thru 9, it starts at the same point. In other words you cannot change the start point. On this particular song in order to remove the garbled sound you cannot use key change. Sorry I didn't discover this before.

Here is a little more information in regards to this particular song. In the edit song screen the remove silence pointer is set at 0.00. If I turn the remove silence off the garbled sound still occurs if I use key change. If I don't use key change the song plays perfectly.

We just discovered you are correct.

We may get a new 5.07"." uploaded to fix this. We'll notify everyone if we do this.

You wrote "MTU\Hoster\songs\mdb".
Did you mean "MTU\Hoster\songs.mdb".?

This IS your songs.mdb database. You should not add it into the Build Songs Database "Included List" of folders. Remove it from there, if it's still present.

Please read the manual topic on the "Build Songs Database" so you understand how to build this by adding FOLDERS, not including the songs.mdb DATABASE it will rebuild.

OK, it sounds like you have been infected with the "DNS Malware Virus", which I assure you MTU or Hoster did NOT infect you.

Check here to see if your computer has it.

Read about removing it at the FBI website.

Re: Post Hoster 5.07 Problems Here

I didn't put anything in when it asked for me to specify my DSN, so when I used your link to check it, it said everything is running as it should! Also, I apologize if I was a pain yesterday, I just was so upset. I fixed the problem by creating a new path for my songs to be in and it was MTU\Songs.mdb I copied all my songs which were always on my computer to that file and now am running perfectly! I ran 5.07 all night lastnight without a hitch! I do love this program and am glad you always seem to fix what happens in a major upgrade! WE are back online and running very well! THANK YOU!

Re: Post Hoster 5.07 Problems Here

I loaded 5.07.05 on Tuesday (5/15) and had a show on 5/17. I had about 10 songs on the playlist at the beginning of the show.

When I clicked the start button, I got an error message (something to the effect) "KMA files not available."

Then every song on my playlist that were showing "Ready" became "Unavail."

I shut Hoster down and restarted it and did not have any more problems the rest of the night. Everything came back as it was prior to this message.

I also did a show Saturday night without any problems.

This is a new one on me. I have never seen the KMA error message before...

Just thought I may need to post this!

Re: Post Hoster 5.07 Problems Here

Are all your KMA files on an external drive ?
It sounds to me like it hadn't registered the connection of the drive.
This can happen if you start Hoster too quick after plugging in an external drive. or plugging in the drive after starting Hoster.

Roy,

All of my KMA files are on the C: Drive. None are on an external hard drive.

I only use an external hard drive for mp3's and I "always" plug it in "before" I boot up so the computer can find on start-up...

Hoster had been up for over an hour while I played music before the show. This is my normal routine. I add the early singers to the playlist as they come up, while the music is playing.

As I stated earlier, this has never happened before. I just thought it needed posting...

Which version were you running before you lost most of your songs ?
If you were previously running an earlier version than 5.03 then you would need to follow these instructions first: http://forum.mtu.com/showthread.php?t=13002

What I was trying to do was get you back to a time & version that was working OK for you. The reason being the 5.07 install allows you to run both your old version and the new version in unison with one another.
If you do as you ask above with a completely new install it will only load version 5.07 as it would be as if you had no previous version installed unless you re-install your previous good version first.
If you do that I should make sure your previous version is running correct before installing 5.07.

If you want to go down the route of a completely new install of 5.07 only then I would try this:
First make a backup of your Hoster folder that can be found in the C:/MTU folder, save somewhere safe like a usb stick, another drive or CD, this may be helpful if you want to recover lost play list and singers list or other info later.
Now un-install Hoster then clear out the Hoster registry by following these instructions:
http://www.mtu.com/faq-test.php?article=26.
Doing this will lose all your instabutton settings and all previous settings.
Then look in the C:/MTU folder and if there is still a Hoster folder (not the backup one you saved earlier) Delete it. then re-install Hoster but be aware if you do this you will probably lose all play lists, singers list, and other settings, it should be as if you never had Hoster installed.
The backup of the Hoster folder would have saved some settings like singers lists and play lists and certain other data which you may be able to recover later but not the instabuttons as they are stored in the registry keys..
Roy,
Not meaning to hi-jack this thread but you mentioned something that has been a mystery to me for a long time. You said "the instabuttons are stored in the registry keys". Is this also true with the latest song additions under the song count for the songbook?

Short answer No. For some reason that is only known to MTU, they seem to store all references to instabuttons in the registry.
All songs data is still stored in the songs.mdb along with the kma files and the kmh headers files.
Perhaps Admin or some other staff member could explain that point better.
