Remove Silence on Backup and Transfer to Main?

I was wondering since it takes so long to remove the silence in a track, can I do this on the backup computer (which isn't used except in the case the main computer is down) and then transfer the files EXACTLY to the Main computer?

Is there a specific file I'd also need to transfer or is this just not that easy?

Re: Remove Silence on Backup and Transfer to Main?

Know what exactly you are working on and that you are going to need to transfer all the files from the backup to the primaray as it is. Then yes it should work. The Remove Silence information is saved in the KMA or KMH file. With the other stuff you are doing then you will esentially have to transfer all of the files you are working on which should transfer the RS information too.

Re: Remove Silence on Backup and Transfer to Main?

I did remove silence on my desk top comp. When I transfered the files to my show laptop it shows all files with remove silence done but when you look at the files in edit songs beginning and end times all show as 0.00. Both comps are running windows 7 with all recommended changes and updates done. Both also have hoster 502 installed. In versions 4xx I was able to do this with no problem. Anyone have any suggestions.

I don't understand why this should happen, a few questions first.

1: The start and end boxes show 0.00 until you highlight the particular track so I take it you have selected a few to display their settings ?

2: Have you actually made a copy of all your kma & kmh from your desk top to your laptop or have you plugged the same external usb drive that you use with your Desktop into your Laptop ?

3: How did you import them into Hoster on your laptop ?

4: Did you just copy the songs.mbd from desktop to lap top ?

5: Does it still show the correct start and end points on the desk top.

A. Yes
2: Have you actually made a copy of all your kma & kmh from your desk top to your laptop or have you plugged the same external usb drive that you use with your Desktop into your Laptop ?
A. Copied
3: How did you import them into Hoster on your laptop ?
A. Copied to Hoster MTU kma folder then rebuilt database
4: Did you just copy the songs.mbd from desktop to lap top ?
A. No
5: Does it still show the correct start and end points on the desk top.
I did when I first made this transfer, however I have had to redo my desk top since then and I now have the same prob on it.

I have been experimenting with this and have found that if I go to the songs database in access it shows yes for start/end time valid and wierd symbles under start and end offset(not numbers). If I change the yes to no I can then redo the remove silence in hoster and it will work corectly (very time consumming for 30,000 songs) but it will work.

Bob sounds like the RS data in the database got corrupted because that should be a number value. You can mass change that Yes to No by highlighting that column then use the find and replace.

Re: Remove Silence on Backup and Transfer to Main?

One other thing might be worth a try on your Desk top, rename your songs.mbd to something like songs2.mbd, then rename the songs_backup.mbd to songs.mbd, then run Hoster and see if the data is restored. This won't help on your laptop but may retrieve the info of the original providing you haven't started the remove silence again.
If no help just rename your songs2.mbd back to songs.mbd.
