Thumbs up Hoster 5.00 Tempo Change - in 5.06 released Mar 15, 2011

I've waited a long time for hoster 5.00 as well as many of you. The good news is that it was a free upgrade and I do like many of the changes. The bad news is that it still does not offer tempo change! I really expected to see it in this version. Disappointed!

This is still being worked on, so should be in soon, but Admin did not want to add it until it was working correctly.

I have been hearing this for much to long. It is clear to me that this is not a priority to MTU. It is a priority to me. I won't be waiting much longer when I know that competitive products offer pitch control.

Pitch Control???

Tempo is close to being incorporated into one of the following updates, but MTU doesn't want to release an inferior product... sorry ADMIN, if I over stated the situation... just hard for me to be as patient with some, as Dale & You are...

I've tried the other programs, and for ease of use, and support you can't beat Hoster, Walt! Hope you wait for the polished product... but in case you don't, I'll wager that you will come back to MTU with your tail dragging between your legs, because the competing Karaoke hosting program didn't, or couldn't deliver what you thought they had advertised... Please prove me wrong! I've eaten humble pie before... but as for Hoster and MTU products, I've never been disappointed!

Re: Hoster 5.00

RIKKI, the "Pitch Control" walt is speaking of is "Tempo". Pitch control is very different from key changing. Whenever you alter the "Tempo" of recorded music, you do indeed also change the "Pitch". Pitch Control, is a throw back from the dj years gone by. Most entertainment DJs use "Pitch Control" on their table top scratch players to fine tune BPM's of a song to fit into the atmosphere of that dance set. Very seldom if ever to actually change the "pitch" of a song to sing it. I can alter the speed of a cdg in my studio, put it back into the original key with keyrite, tap it out as a new CDG with KHpro, burn it with microstudio for a finished cdg product.

I also call it pitch control. I have changed the speed {tempo}of several songs for my singers. Then rewrote them using KH pro. Karaoke home producer is a money maker for me. A great piece of software. I couldn't do the karaoke show i do, without keyrite, microstudio, and khpro. My singers demand special versions of songs. They are not commercially available. However with mtu software, your creative abilities are endless. Even for an old self taught hillbilly computer hack like myself. If i can get through this software, anyone can.

Re: Hoster 5.00

A pitch wheel is very different than tempo control.
The pitch wheel will altar speed but it will also alter the key as well so if you want to sing a song that was sped up, you would need a key changer to drop the key back down to the original key.
The tempo control will only alter the speed digitally without affecting the key of the song at all. If the song is sped up or slowed down - doesn't matter, the key remains the same.

Re: Hoster 5.00

Gentlemen please keep your post civil or I will delete them without notice.
Walt as I said MTU has been working on it and the beta testers have had some testing on it.It is not quite right so MTU decided not to include it yet. As you well know MTU doesn't release anything that is showing not to work correctly. Yes we would all like to have the Tempo control, however we want one that doesn't cause problems with the rest of the program.
Saying you are going to include something and actually getting the programming to mesh correctly are two different things. Cut them some slack and you will see a much better product than any other program on the market.

Yes I meant tempo not pitch. I didn't say I was going to go else where, I said I wasn't going to wait much longer. I have waited a long time and had high hopes that it would be available with hoster 5.00. As far as what you mention as to competition. Have you tried some the lastest versions out there? I have heard great feedback from some that are using other products. There is always a trade off and each of us has to decide what is the important features that we want. I have stated below that I have no interest in videos and I don't use these in Hoster. Others really love this feature. The best features to me in Hoster is "remove silence" and the singers database with the memory of the key changes. The next important thing to me is "tempo" which is not in Hoster but is in some other products.

I agree about the MTU products that compliment Hoster... and George, I too, am an old fart trying to figure out some of the nuances of the other programs... and I still amaze some of my customers with KHPro finished projects...

Lonnie is correct, digitally it will not affect the pitch... only the tempo... it is still to be determined whether is will be possible to make a tempo change on the fly, or if you will have to preset the amount of tempo when you place the song in the playlist...

Walt, I won't try to speak for MTU, as to the timeframe of release for TEMPO CONTROL... just be assured that it won't be released until it is rock solid, and will play nice with all the other features that 5.xx is promising... Stay tuned...

I was counting on it being in this version too, but as most of the time Admin puts in what they want. I've been a member of this forum for a long time. Every once in a while I just have to put my 2 cents worth in. I'm still waiting for rotatation management. I do a variety show and use Hoster for the musical accompanyment. Most of these people can not do the songs at the normal tempo. I fought long and hard with these people to be able to use Hoster as I knew I could pre set key changes which they all need also. They tell me they can do it with their hardware players and they don't care about Hoster. They are just as happy to use the remote to change the tempo up or down 2 or the key up or down two. However, I as someone who is actually doing the work and running the sound board etc. I would rather pre program all of that. All I have to do then is have the playlist lined up properly and then click the mouse at the right time. As always, Hoster just seems to be a penny short of doing what I need it to do even though I still believe it to be the best software of this type out there. I get pretty much all of the upgrades and upgrades to the other MTU software I have. I was following the blog and knew they were having trouble with making the tempo work. I wish they would have stuck with fixing that instead of putting out some bug fixes and some cosmetic changes. I'm very disapointed. I will not buy any upgrades for any of my products until tempo change happens. I'm tired of all this bull.

Re: Hoster 5.00

Believe me when I say that MTU did want to get Tempo into this version, but it wasn't as easy as you think. They have been working on it and we have tested on it, but it just isn't ready quite yet. I am just as disappointed as you, but you would not have wanted it if it doesn't work completely yet.
Just throwing a new feature into the existing program is not as easy as you think. The new feature has to work and play well with all the other functions that Hoster does which makes integrating it a much more difficult task.
Please be patient and it will be included soon.
