where did my imports go?

I am aggravated and my head is pounding....

I cannot import subfolders, so I have been importing one folder at a time.

Over 2000 songs took a while. I read up on what to do next. Imported songs go into the database, so rebuild the database and I should be able to search and find the imported kma songs on Hoster to play them.

Nope

I cannot find them. I have oddball songs I put in and are a good test to search for them

I want to throw my computer at a wall I am so aggravated.

The manual is no help and maybe someone else has had this problem, but my head is pounding and I have NO patience left.

Any help?

Did the rebuild show the correct number of files?
Second thing is in the search what items do you have set for it to search? If you have the MUX or Duet as part of the search it will only find songs that are marked as duets or songs that are MUXed.

You don't necessarily have to rebuild your database after importing files.
When you open Hoster the "BookID" is green, if not select it. You should see a number in the BookID window. Do you? If so will the song Play?
If the answer to either question is no, then Hoster does not know where your files are. By default , the files go to c:/MTU/KMA files (version 4.xx.
If you are putting them someplace else, make sure you identify that place when importing and rebuilding the DB

Still trying

I am using 4.03

I have the book ID green with a file there. I can search for and find old songs I have had in the KMA folder. The folder is on my external drive and I direct the files to that folder. The database folder is still on my C drive, as it has been forever.

I just brought in 6 songs. I renamed them TEST02-01 - artist - title, etc except with real songs.

It gives me a notepad note saying they were imported to my KMA folder.

I cannot find them on my search before or after rebuilding

I have not imported songs for a long time because I switched to Compuhost. I switched because it had the "next singer" feature and I could import all of my songs with a few key strokes.

I did not like their key change though and MTU made importing multiple songs easier, so I switched back.

I have done everything right. No luck.

Thanks to everyone for your help

Will the ones you see in the Bookid list play?

no book id

It is confusing because it gives me a notepad that they were inported, but the do not show up anywhere in any form. I searched each part one by one and all at once. Nothing.

I went back and renamed 40 so far and they import normally.

The formats were fine on the previously imported files so I do not see what the problem is.

I am gearing to import all of my mp3g files and I hope that don't have to rename too many. It is time consuming.

Thanks for your help.

Bill

You have to tell Hoster where you want to "import to". Change the Folder in the import screen before you import. If your files are imported & you can't find them, do a "Search" from Windows Explorer & find where they are. Then you can move them to the Folder you want to keep them in. If you move them, then you will need to "rebuild" because Hoster will only remember where it put them the first time. So, if it wasn't too many the first time, just re-import them so the correct file folder.
