where did my imports go?

I am aggravated and my head is pounding....

I cannot import subfolders, so I have been importing one folder at a time.

Over 2000 songs took a while. I read up on what to do next. Imported songs go into the database, so rebuild the database and I should be able to search and find the imported kma songs on Hoster to play them.

Nope

I cannot find them. I have oddball songs I put in and are a good test to search for them

I want to throw my computer at a wall I am so aggravated.

The manual is no help and maybe someone else has had this problem, but my head is pounding and I have NO patience left.

Any help?

Did the rebuild show the correct number of files?
Second thing is in the search what items do you have set for it to search? If you have the MUX or Duet as part of the search it will only find songs that are marked as duets or songs that are MUXed.

what version of hoster are you running ?

laddie September 17th, 2008 09:20 AM

You don't necessarily have to rebuild your database after importing files.
When you open Hoster the "BookID" is green, if not select it. You should see a number in the BookID window. Do you? If so will the song Play?
If the answer to either question is no, then Hoster does not know where your files are. By default , the files go to c:/MTU/KMA files (version 4.xx.
If you are putting them someplace else, make sure you identify that place when importing and rebuilding the DB

Still trying

I am using 4.03

I have the book ID green with a file there. I can search for and find old songs I have had in the KMA folder. The folder is on my external drive and I direct the files to that folder. The database folder is still on my C drive, as it has been forever.

I just brought in 6 songs. I renamed them TEST02-01 - artist - title, etc except with real songs.

It gives me a notepad note saying they were imported to my KMA folder.

I cannot find them on my search before or after rebuilding

I have not imported songs for a long time because I switched to Compuhost. I switched because it had the "next singer" feature and I could import all of my songs with a few key strokes.

I did not like their key change though and MTU made importing multiple songs easier, so I switched back.

I have done everything right. No luck.

Thanks to everyone for your help

Will the ones you see in the Bookid list play?

sskydiverr September 20th, 2008 01:03 PM

no book id

It is confusing because it gives me a notepad that they were inported, but the do not show up anywhere in any form. I searched each part one by one and all at once. Nothing.

I went back and renamed 40 so far and they import normally.

The formats were fine on the previously imported files so I do not see what the problem is.

I am gearing to import all of my mp3g files and I hope that don't have to rename too many. It is time consuming.

Thanks for your help.

You have to tell Hoster where you want to "import to". Change the Folder in the import screen before you import. If your files are imported & you can't find them, do a "Search" from Windows Explorer & find where they are. Then you can move them to the Folder you want to keep them in. If you move them, then you will need to "rebuild" because Hoster will only remember where it put them the first time. So, if it wasn't too many the first time, just re-import them so the correct file folder.

import folder

Thanks.

I have the proper folder named.

I will search and see if it finds them somewhere else.

cue problem solved apparently, new problem now

I have not had a problem with losing files since that episode and renaming the problem files..

4.04 came out and fixed all three problems I was having, but it has it's own personality. It keeps locking trying to import even 20 files.

I batch file convert a folder with 20-50 files. No biggie. It hits a song where it says the book id is being used by another file. I decided to change to book id and move forward. I bring in that file or files in Sngle mode, because the program defaults to that, and when I try to finish the folder it locks.

Is this just me?

Anyone?

and why doesn't trhe program go back to batch convert automatically?

I have spent 40 hours this week trying to import songs and have only been able to bring in less than a thousand. Not that many more to go, but, really, 40 hours? Rebooting the program every other song almost. OK, every 4 songs, but, still.

I work 2 jobs and only do one show a week for fun. My time is limited and I have spent all of my spare trime for two weeks with this project and it is exhausting.

I want to use the forums, as they ask us to do, but it is time to send a ticket to tech support.

I remember when you first started this thread. I thought you already "imported" everything:e and just couldn't find them:? Was 4.03 the first time you used Hoster? Why can't you just do a "rebuild"?

sskydiverr September 21st, 2008 06:52 PM

I did import

I did import them new. They showed as imported on a notepad that gets placed automatically, but I could not find them. I did the rebuild and could not find them. I did a varity of searches. That is why I was aggravated.

I am not a novice with Hoster and not a novice wth computers. That is what bugged me.

I have used Compuhost for awhile because as I add new discs, I can update quickly in bulk and it has the scolling list to show who is up next.

Hoster was lagging in this respect.

The new version seems to address the issues.

I converted to mp3g files to use in Hoster at home, because I change keys frequently for myself. I actegorized my songs into folders based on artist name and left them in my D drive for pwrsonal use.

I spent a weekend renaming them all in the discid-track-artist-title format to bring them all in to Hoster in one motion.

It has proven to be difficult.

In the long run, it will be worth it because I prefer the quality of sound and key changes in Hoster more.

It is just that I expected it to be easier based on what I read in MTU.com.

The files that say they were imported don't show up anywhere at all. No search of my entire c drive, d drive or external drive finds them

Again, I will send a ticket to support with my current concerns because I am out of leisure time to mess with this.

I will let you know what they say
