Saving the Rotation upon a crash

One of the selling points of Hoster is that if your PC crashes during a show, or freezes up, you can reboot, and Hoster will have saved the rotation so you don't have to remember it.

The last 2 times my PC has crashed during a show, the first 5 songs in the rotation get saved, and the other 25 songs are the same as the fifth song.

Example....

Symphony of Destruction - Paul
Love Song - Steve
Carry On Wayward Son - Roger
Hello It's Me - Laura
Hard to Handle - TJG
Sister Golden Hair - JJ
Sister Golden Hair - JJ
Sister Golden Hair - JJ
Sister Golden Hair - JJ
Sister Golden Hair - JJ
Sister Golden Hair - JJ
Sister Golden Hair - JJ
Sister Golden Hair - JJ
Sister Golden Hair - JJ
Sister Golden Hair - JJ
Sister Golden Hair - JJ
Sister Golden Hair - JJ

You get the point. What's happening here?

Re: Saving the Rotation upon a crash

first of all
you should be asking why is hoster crashing at all

this program is very close to rock solid as far as crashing during a show

1) what is happing before hoster is crashing

2) what else is running with hoster at the same time

3) at what point is hoster crashing

4) is hoster crashing at the same place all the time

5) do you use this unit to browse the internet

6) are there any virus on this unit

some thing sounds very wrong here with your unit
if your set up is right and you are not trying to run a whole bunch of programs while you are doing your show

and you have enough memory hoster should not crash at all
I don't think this is hoster

I think this is your set up something is going on inside your system
that has nothing to do with hoster

tell us about you unit
all your info on your set up
and run your antivirus to see if you have something that should not be there

ps if you are using this to browse the net I would not do this any more you are running a risk of some very nasty things
that could happen to your set up

if hoster was crashing on me twice a night
or twice in any night i would be looking very hard for the fix

Re: Saving the Rotation upon a crash

I have personaly not had a crash since 3.0 went out. I guess it depends on why and during what, that it crashed. that is what causes the kind of playlist error you had. maybe it would be a good thing to do a save of the playlist after you make a bunch of entrys, just to be safe. It would save a bunch of typing.

Maybe you will get a comment from Brian on this.

gduns
if he finds out why he is crashing in the first place that may be why hoster is not saving the list

hoster cant save the list if some thing is stoping hoster from working in the first place

if some thing is happing to stop hoster from saving the list in the first place

dont you think

like a lack of memory???? may be.

by the way i found what you were looking for !?

Re: Saving the Rotation upon a crash

Tymzend,
You can add the songs to the Playlist, and then durning Playback click the X to close Hoster and then reopen it and they will all be there. Even if you didn't save. So there is something going on on your system, such as Mike asked, that is causing this.

I have not had any other clients report anything like this happening in Hoster. It is pretty much Rock Solid, at its current state.

Re: Saving the Rotation upon a crash

Actually it happened to me a couple of days ago.
I was going to try and duplicate it before I posted anything, basicly I was moving a song up the playlist when one song ended and/or the next song began at that point hoster stopped responding and I had to use taskmaster to end it, so i could restart hoster.
After restarting, most of my playlist changed to "seven bridges road" (approximately five down- though I didn't count)
and all the instances of that song - about 5 or 6 - had a time duration listed as 2 seconds. I went a head and played one, it ran out the two seconds and then reset the time and ran outto the actual time remaining.

This is the first time in over a year (and several upgrades) that hoster has crashed.

Sam
