Question bad registration code

The registration code they sent me doesn't work. Has any one else had this problem. I made the long distance call but got to talk to nobody. Guess I found the customer no service land line. Open for suggestions. I have emailed them more than once. Thanks to all that respond

Go to http://mtu.com and log on to your account and see if it shows the same number you are having problems with.

Also since you purchased an upgrade, 3.319 has to be on your computer for the install to work.

I hope this helps.

Jim

When you say the reg code doesn't work, what is the message that pops up?

BTW, where in Missouri?

It's been a while since somebody has reported this problem. I'm sorry I didn't suggest you upgrade to 3.321a first.

Thanks Mark

I did the upgrade to 3.321 It still won't work. I just keep getting the same message. If I'm having this much trouble getting it on XP Pro it must really be a bitch to get on Vista. Vista is on my second machine. I told them to give me my money back this isn't worth the hassel.

You'll be missing out on a great program if you get a refund. They may have sent you code for a full install. Try this:

1. Unistall 3.XX

2. restart your computer

3. Install 4.06 using the code MTU sent you.

And of course you have to be online.

I'll be here all morning, let me know how it goes.

Jim

Sullivan,
I'm sorry you are having problems with your upgrade but it has nothing to do with the operating system. There is a mix up in your reg code somewhere. I have alerted the owner to your problem, it will be fixed I assure you.

I have run Hoster 4 at my shows since before it's release and it is well worth what you paid not to mention the feature that are being added to 4.10. I know woring with computers can be frustrating but please try to install 4.06 with no version of 3.XX on your machine, this may get you going.

If nothing else you will be better off with 3.321a.

Tryin' to help,

Jim

I'm sure that it is just something simple we are missing. Jim may be right, you may have inadvertently gotten a full install code. The other suggestion would be to un-install all versions and install just 3.321a. Then try the upgrade again. Make sure to set a Restore Point so you can step back if you need to.

I would hope you would reconsider. Just the singer's database alone, is worth all the hassles. And yes, Vista can be a bitch. The thing is, lots of people are having zero problems with Vista. You only hear about the horror stories because the success stories don't need to even use the forums. If it were me, I would use XP exclusively. I only use Vista to play around with, not do any REAL business with.

Yes I am having the same problem trying to upgrade from 3.21a to 4.06. Can't get any phone calls or help from MTU. I love the Hoster software, but this is getting very frustrating. I have tried what they are saying on my Windows XP version and Vista, neither work. I get the same error code you are getting.

I understand your reluctance. That is why I suggested setting a Restore Point. You can always jump back. Even if you decide not to upgrade can you do me one favor? Ever since I saw your screen name, I can't get the old henway joke out of my head. So, what's a Butch Fer?

I too understand your reluctance to follow are suggestions but reinstalling is a standard fix for all computer programs. Like Mark said, setting a resore point will assure that can get back to where you were no matter what happens.

You will never be SOL as long as you are online. As a beta tester, I uninstall and reinstall Hoster all the time, sometimes three or four times a day.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Jim

They do not do telephone support at this time because of the workload and lack of personnel to answer the phone all day. You will need to go to the Support web page and submit a Support email through there. The form is on that page.

As Jim has said this is a small company and they have put a lot of time and money into their program development over the past year most of it because of the way Vista acts and Microsoft's refusal to help program developers to figure out how it works. For that reason hiring more Support staff is out of the question. If the workload was normal and they didn't have to deal with Vista so much then support would be better even with one person.

I realize it is frustrating but your patience will be worth it in the long run. There is no need to remove any previous version, so at no point should you be SOL. In fact since you both bought upgrade versions, the previous version has to be installed.

One question that none of have thought of is did either of you install Hoster in another location other than C:Program Files area? This may cause the install program not to see the previous version and would give you the same error message.

Madjim has contacted MTU and they will look into this first thing Monday morning. It is a possibility that an incorrect registration code has been sent to you and it has happened before (to me). Those codes are generated by computer and sometimes the code generated just won't work so they have to go in and manually regenerate a new one.

I sure hope its an easy fix on there end. I have done many a karaoke show with the older versions and blew people away !!! I have alot of computer experience and actually just built and nice gaming system that is also going to be running Hoster. I really feel like I have tried just about everything I can think of. I'll look some more into it, but I am beginning to think its a bad code. Thanks for the advise.

Hey Sullivan,
I should be an easy fix. I had an issue in the past where MTU had to change the regcode for one of my machines to accomodate my need to install Hoster on a forth machine. It took no time at all.

If your singers were blown away by Hoster 3 they will be floored when they see their names in your Hoster 4 Singer's Database. I love to see the expression on my singer's faces when they realize I have their songs stored in my computer.

Thanks again for being patient, you won't regret getting the upgrade.

Jim
