You only need to uninstall old version (on-line) if you are moving to a different computer. Otherwise, just upgrade. Your e-mail address must match what MTU has on file as what you used when you purchased Hoster. I had that problem when I changed e-mail addresses. I had to update my Account first & then my new e-mail address was recognized when I upgraded.

It took a while for my new e-mail address to be recognized. So, I used my old address & it accepted it. The next time, it accepted my new one

I don't understand why Hoster won't recognize your CD drive. Did you do the Test and Save in Tools? I've had to do that more than once to get it to recognize my drive and maintain that setting.

I don't mean to over-simplify, but sometimes computers seem like "little kids". I will set the computer to do something & it just won't do it. Then on the third try, all of a sudden, it does what I tell it to.

for some reason it won't recognized both of my laptops cd/dvd drives, ( showing none, and i opened up my comp.hardware tab. and the cd/dvd drive has a yellow exclamation point . )i first tried the 4.3 demo version on my back-up laptop and it did the same, and now tried the 4.4 demo version on my show laptop still the same...both the 4.3 and the 4.4 demo version work on my pc..go figure

ADMIN NOTE: Click here to read about and download a file to run that will make your CD/DVD drives re-appear.

Someone posted the problem and solution before, but i could'nt find it.
So here is the fix.

Follow these directions for clearing the Upper/Lower Filters: (might want to print this out)chemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
  1. Click on Start --> Run --> and type in 'regedit' followed by the enter key
  2. Expand the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" key (looks like a folder) by double clicking it (or clicking the "+" next to it.)
  3. Expand the "SYSTEM" Key
  4. Expand the "CurrentControlSet" Key
  5. Expand the "Control" Key
  6. Expand the "Class" Key
  7. Please look for a key containing the following string of letters and numbers:
{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} (***BE CAREFULL to get the correct one as there are many similarly named strings) the parts highlighted are the parts most likely to be different.

  8. High light this key by left clicking once on it
  9. On the right hand side you are looking for "UpperFilters" and "LowerFilters" under the "Name" column, once you find these please delete them by right clicking on them and choosing "delete" Note: you may only find one or the other delete it anyway.
  10. Please exit the registry by clicking on the "X" in the top right hand corner of the Regedit window. Go back to the "Device manager" highlight "Computer" them click on the "Scan for Hardware Changes" button (Looks like a computer with a magnifying glass across it)

Hoster not recognizing your drive is one thing. But, when there is an "exclamation point" next to it in Device Manager, then it is a computer-related problem, not "software". MTU can't fix that.
