Static in sound system

I have a real bad noise problem when I run
my projector to show the words on a big screen.
Last night when my power plug came unhooked
from my lap top it went away. When running on
the battery I had no proplem but when I hooked
it back to the power cord. It started the stattic
again. Is their a power sorce that I need to solve
this problem?
