'Serial Number Does Not Match Registration'

Help!! I have just tried to upgrade from 3.310 to 3.318 on my hard drive & it came up with the above error. I did check previous posts & I noticed that this was a bit of a problem a couple of years back but I couldn't find anything recent. Is there are quick fix for this or do I need to go through to Support for them to reset something...??!!??

Go to Microsoft's Windows Update web page and do the Custom Update installing all updates listed. This will bring your Windows up to date to work with the current versions of MTU programs.

Dale's response is the normally correct one, but in this case it is not.

Read my post at http://forum.mtu.com/showthread.php?t=9625, and download the 3.318 installation file again. We replaced it at 10:30PM EST tonight. The one you have has a bug in it.

All fixed - thanks admin & Dale.

Just one thing though... I saved the 3.318 exe file to my desktop. This is when the error ocurred & then somehow the old exe file removed itself along with half of my desktop icons... would this have something to do with the bad file..??

I was preparing new books and was working on it through a word document on my desktop - this has now vanished & I have tried search & temp files but so far have not located it...?? Luckily there was an Auto Recovery done not long before this so I haven't lost toooo much...

I moved the other posts about Desktop Icons disappearing to a separate Thread at: http://forum.mtu.com/showthread.php?t=9654
