Question Hoster with Vista and 2 Sound Cards?

I am building a new system running Windows Vista and two sound cards. We have done this in the past using Windows XP with no problem. We selected the sound card for hoster as the default sound card and could tell windows Media Player to use the other sound card.

We do this so that our mixer can have one channel be for karaoke and the other channel for DJ music. You can run DJ music continuously and fade it in or out between karaoke songs. For some reason I have had no luck duplicating this in Windows Vista. Once I go into the control panel and make one sound card the default sound card, I can't go into Windows Media Player and force it to use the other sound card.

Any assistance on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Steve,
This is all I have found so far and it definately isn't incouraging:

http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/post/194441.aspx

Reports this:
Due to what I consider a design flaw Vista Media Center or Windows Mediaplayer will only allow you to output audio to the default Playback device. So if you want to play video through MCE and music through Mediaplayer then you will have audio output to the same soundcard.

Someone else suggested that Winamp could select which sound card to use, but Vista may defeat that too.

dont kill yourself looking for the fix.

buy PCDJ blue. its cheap and you can pick your own sound card.

heck, i will give you a copy of the software, i have 6 license's. im not using any of them !

i wish MTU would step to the plate with a DJ software. maybe sell it as a plug in to Hoster ??

How do you select a sound card in Winamp

I downloaded winamp but can't seem to find where you can select a sound card to play from.

I haven't changed mine in a while but I think it's menu/options/preferences/output...select the plugin you are using and click configure.

Talking Thanks To All Of You Who Responded!

I got Winamp working correctly and it will work just fine. Thanks so much for your assistance. It is greatly appreciated!

I wish Microsoft would resolve this issue with Vista's Media Player. It would also be great if MTU would allow Hoster to be able to select a specific sound card. Thanks again!
