Bob does she have the Extended Desktop capability? Does it show 2 monitors in the settings?

If so then she probably has a cable problem or could be a resolution setting or refresh rate wrong for the TV. What does she get on the TV, black screen, picture that won't sync, etc?

she gets a black screen,
she has extented desktop capabilty, and see's two monitors in settings.
she is totally lost with computers, i tried to help her on phone but no luck.
and her computer people where she bought it told her she should trade up or replace video card with a better one. (sounds fishey to me.)
i believe it should work she has s-video/tv out 7 pin.
but i dont know what video card is in it and she cant tell me.???

Thanks For Helping, shes a very nice lady and i talked her into buying hoster.
so far she loves it, just cant get video to work. Bob

Usually, if you right click on the desktop, then properties, settings, then advanced, that next popup on advanced will show the name of the graphics card somewhere.

Bob they may have sold her the wrong cable. Does she have 1 rca plug (yellow for video) on the other end, 3 rca(composite video), or S-video?

Is there a mixer involved or straight from computer to TV?

Another stray thought.... is the 2nd monitor active (right click on it and see whether it lists activate as an option)?
Is she turning the TV on (and the mixer if connected through) before starting the computer?

It is awfully hard sometimes to troubleshoot via long distance.

she might need to get a 7 pin s-video to rca cable.. my dell ( 1405 & 1505 ) laptops has 7 pins s-video ,i couldnt get it to work with the 4 pins s-video cable at first , i had to use the pc to tv adapter from my old laptop and i got tired of having all those adaptors sticking out of my laptops..so i ended up buying from a website a 7 pin s-video to rca and its been working fine

I got the HP laptop from her, (works perfect)
i will have to give her a diagram of what to do
when i turned on her laptop,
singers name display and singers display were both on her screen.
i guess she did not know to drag them over to singers display.
and i think she did not set TV for video, thats why she had a black screen.
it has Intel 9000 graphics card. (works very nice)
thanks for all the help. Bob

Like Dale said: "It is really hard to troubleshhot long distance."

I used to work for a catering company. I would get ticked at the person booking the caters because too often they would get directions to the location but not get an address. Give me an address and a map and I can find anything. Give me directions that usually only make sense to the person giving them and I'm usually lost.

Glad you got it solved.

Sam
