Can’t reinstall the same version as before.

I used to have Hoster version 4.20. My computer died and now when I tried to reinstall, the highest version I can download is 4.11.
What is happening?
And what can I do about it?
Jim

Re: Can’t reinstall the same version as before.

Submit a Support Email Ticket through the MTU web page. What has happened is MTU server is not recognizing the computer as the same one, because the reload changes the computer's identification.

Re: Can’t reinstall the same version as before.

Very upset with MTU. I already have and been using 4.20 for a couple years. Now, after my desktop crashes, I can only load 4.10 and they think they are doing me a favor by letting me down load that high of version.
I have sold 3 people on this program and this is what I get.
They have to learn the difference between upgrade and update.
If you have a 2005 Toyota and upgrade, that means you buy a new one.
If you have a computer problem they update the one you have.
I was told I have to upgrade to a new version to get support.

This is why you should Save the download rather than Run it from the download. Keeping a copy of any installation file is always a good idea and keeping them in a safe place too.
I take it the 4.22 version (the one that says 4.22 -4.20) would not install?
Sorry, but the 12 month upgrade requirement was applied last year.

Jim H.,I am sorry you experienced this problem.

Our web site has a script that disables any RegCode when it is installed 100, 200, 300, etc. times. We VERY RARELY have any customer actually hit this limit. In fact you are the second customer ever to hit this limit... so it is set VERY HIGH for normal users.

You hit this limit by installing and removing and reinstalling and... so forth. If you are transferring one copy of Hoster among your computers so often, maybe you should buy a second copy. Our products are not designed to install/remove 100 times, without warning us.

Here is the error message you were presented when you tried to install 4.20 after your 100 limit was hit:

"Your Registration Code was found disabled.
The Installation program was closed and your Internet Browser is now showing http://www.mtu.com/upgrades/regcode-failure.htm with instructions what to do."

On that page, you see this explanation:

Why This Program Refuses To Install
We are sorry you are reading this page as it means the Registration Code you entered failed to allow registering at our web site because of one of these reasons:

1. It was disabled by our web database script because it has been installed a maximum number of times, or

2. Our web registration script may have wrongly created too many records for your computer, or

3. It has already been installed on the maximum number of computers, or

4. It was disabled by MTU for various reasons to prevent installing again

Below this are instructions of how to fix all the conditions above.

If you had submitted a Support Ticket, Bryan would have solved it quickly. I'm responding in the Forum, where I saw your post by accident.

Please understand, the Forums are not intended to get support that only MTU can give. It is for asking your peers "how to" questions, and helping them.

I have reset your RegCode so you can now install 4.20... or 4.22 for free.

If you try to download 4.20 again from our web site, you will receive version 4.22 for free. Version 4.22 and 4.21 have several bugs and added several new features.

I'd suggest you install it instead of 4.20.

Re: Can’t reinstall the same version as before.

MTUSUPPORT informed me after my post above that your "Install Date", set by your last upgrade order, was 3/3/2010. Hoster 4.20 and 4.22 "Install Date" is set to 3/5/2010.

Since your records proved you had installed 4.20 prior, your Install Date was changed to 3/6/2010 so you can install again.

Our webmaster's script must have missed your 4.20 installation as it would have automatically set it so you could continue installing. We have had a few others with the same problem.

Tens of thousands of records were updated. I'm just sorry yours wasn't.

Re: Can’t reinstall the same version as before.

To Admin: Thanks. Do me a favor, check my downloads, I did not download that many times. Someone must have hacked into my account. I have had one desktkop since 2004 and only did the updates till now when it crashed. I had a Gateway laptop the I started with and that acted up till 2007 when I bought a new Toshiba and changed it over.
I would NEVER let anyone hack it. I did have one friend that wanted to, but I said no. Why should I pay for it and someone use it for free. There is enough out there that are not legal and taking jobs away from us that are legal. That's another subject that sets me off, sorry. I probably have no more that 10 total downloads.
I love your probram and the way you take ideas from customers. You used a one of mine. Love it.
I used 4.20 with the Background music and sound effects. Great program. I work alone and only use the laptop.

By the way, I still can't download 4.20. It want me to pay the $69.95.

Thank Jim

I did send in 2 repaitr tickets.

Jim, I did check your database, and there were 100 "installs", not downloads. You only need to download the program once per upgrade to install on your computers. When you remove and reinstall on another computer, that counts as one install. It is not possible to hack our database. We would also know it if it happened.

MTUSUPPORT changed your "Upgrade Install Date" to INSURE you can install 4.22 (we do NOT support 4.20 as it was a bugged version that 4.22 fixed). I hope you included exact error or other messages in your Ticket, cause from where I sit, there is no reason you can't do an UPGRADE over your current install.

Now, if you try to install 4.32, then you will get the message to upgrade.

Re: Can’t reinstall the same version as before.

I sent in 2 requests to support because I still can't upgrade to 4.22. I did not receive and answer, so I thought I would try here again.
It sends me over to the $69.95 upgrade page.
You said you reset it but still doesn't work.
What is wrong?

Jim

Jim, did you receive the automatic response saying they had received your ticket? If not then you need to chack your spam/junk folder in your email. Also make sure you don't have MTU blocked.

Re: Can’t reinstall the same version as before.

I had a mini crash, well, not really a crash, but my computer went to my back up drive after my main hard drive giggled a little. After resolving that minor issue, Hoster went BACK to version 4.20, I had already upgraded to 4.32. Now when I go to Hoster, My Account, Hoster does NOT recognize my email address. What gives? I have been a member of Hoster for 7 years, How do I get Hoster to RE recognize my email address ????? I would like to re install my 4.32 version. I thank you in advance. I am also going to try to submit a support ticket,

Re: Can’t reinstall the same version as before.

Sounds like the back-up drive wasn't quite as up to date as thought it was it it only had version 4.20 on it.
Did you change email addresses between originally installing 4.20 and 4.32?
Are you trying to log into your account on MTU or are you meaning that when you try to reinstall 4.32 that Hoster doesn't recognize your email address?

Re: Can’t reinstall the same version as before.

Granted, I did not update my backup drive when I upgraded to 4.32. However, on my main drive, 4.32 is gone, including the icon to install. Should have made a backup disc. But, when I try to log in to My Account @ MTU, my email address is not recognized. When I request a " forgot password " it says "error" Does not recognize my email address. I have sent a Support Ticket request, and received the usual " your request has been received. But, no action yet. This is not an emergency, but, it is an inconvenience. Would like to get back to status quo.
