Background Audio will not work in Auto mode because there is not a long enough stop for it to kick in. This will only work in Manual mode, where the karaoke song ends and you have to click Play to start the next one..

BillyO,
I may be missing what you are doing (or trying to do), but the folder that you select to use as background audio (BA) does not go to the main preview Hoster screen, it just hides until BA feature is implemented then the order of the songs that is played ( or portion thereof ) when a song in your show playlist is stopped or finishes playing, takes over, and you will hear the first song in the order that you dictate by adding the folder of songs to use, and instruct BA to follow, each time a playlist song is finished, or stopped during a show...

Any songs have to go into 1 folder only. Then click the BKgrnd Audio button, from the window that opens use the browse button to find the folder and select, this should fill the window with all the files in that folder. Set the fade in & out to your preferences, then press the on button the music should start playing. Then you can close that window and the music should keep playing until you select a Playlist song when it should fade out until you stop a Playlist song when it should fade back in. This only works in manual mode,

It will only play MP3 or WMA song files. However one other drawback (not Hoster but WMP) is that it cannot play song files imported through WMP. These get set with the DRM and are only allow to be played in WMP. No other program has access to them. I imported all of mine through Microstudio and then converted them to WMA with Songverter. The MP3 audio songs I have were done through MusicMatch. So I have some of each.
After you select a folder it should list all (down to 200) of the above type of song. When you turn BA on it should start playing the songs from the top of the list down to the bottom, playing only when nothing is playing from the main Hoster playlist. It does not use sub-folders.
You don't add them to the main playlist if that is what you are trying to do. This is a totally separate player.

I think you'll find it plays the one after the highlighted song.

That part of it isn't perfected yet. As the manual says:
Quote:
In THIS Version 4.10 once you close the Player, if you moved songs their order is lost. Expected in Version 4.20, you will be able to create Playlists you can manage with New, Open, Save and Save As commands. The order you click-n-drag songs in these new lists remains after closing. These are Hoster .HST Playlist and can even be appended to the open Hoster Playlist to play that list of songs within Hoster to show their Title and Times in the Singers Names Display.

For now it only plays in the order given in the folder listing, there is more to be done on it in version 4.20 to make this a much better addition to your show.

Billy you have to put the song files you want to use in BA into that folder from Windows Explorer. You cannot build a playlist in it like you would in the main screen. If you don't put any files in it then you will not have anything for the BA to play.

All my songs were imported using WMP and Hoster does play them for me. Even B/A - all I did was point to one of the folders in My Music & BA plays them fine. Guess I should mention that I'm still using 4.1 Beta 28.

I haven't tried them in a while but I know Hoster would not play them because of the DRM. It could be because the songs were "imported" on one computer and transferred to another. I don't remember as that was a while back and I have slept since then.

Most of the songs I started with were imported on 2 older computers, which I transferred to my Vista laptop 2 years ago. Since then, I have imported CDs with WMP directly onto Vista and some are mp3s I have purchased off the net. I have never had any problems with audio.

I don't have any problem with my WMP songs either. There is an option in WMP to not assign the DRM. I have used this since day one because of different portable music devices I have used over the years.

Hey all,

Just a recommendation for your BA playlist. I used this last Friday for the first time and absolutely loved it. I created a folder and copied files there that were appropriate for the crowd I was working with (about 30 songs or so). I will delete the files from that folder and create my next list of songs just prior to my next gig. Make sure that you copy instead of moving the files so that you do not lose them when you clear the folder.

Just a suggestion.

Billyo, I feel for you. This is a rather complex "automatic" feature. From the questions you are asking I'd suggest you... forgive me... read the manual... (ducking as I see the spear chuckers lining up around me).

Good ideas!

You now can click-n-drag songs in the BA Player's open folder vertically to change their play order. However... when you close Hoster the order is lost. BA Player uses a standard Window folder(s) and plays the files the open one contains.

In Hoster 4.20, if we have the time, we'll change BA Player to open Hoster .HST Playlist files containing audio .MP3 and .WMA files. Then, any changes you make in the playing order are saved and appear the next time you open that playlist in the BA Player. Also, you can create a "dance mix" of audios that play for awhile in BA Player if you want. You then could also use the new Files menu > Append Playlist command and add your "dance mix" into Hoster and play it from there, where it shows in the Singers Names Display (SND).

We also added a new feature that, while you are in Intermission mode (and playing the BA Player), we update the TIME fields in the SND every 60 seconds so your Singers will know when they can show up on stage.
