![]() I am so sorry but i am not very computer literate. OK i downloaded my 1st download on my show laptop, then after a week i dowloaded my 2nd on to my desktop for backup which worked fine. Since then i have downloaded thousands or more kma's to my show laptop and tried to make my desktop the exact same thing. It did not work not all the songs were in there i was missing 4 or 5 thousand. Well I built the song data base again thinking it would pick up any it missed well all it did was duplicate every thing. And I still did not get the 4-5 thousand songs i was missing. Is there any way to totally clear out my 2nd hoster on my backtop and start over?
Can you please give me the instrutions if I do get to clear everything out how i go about taking my original laptop kma's and making my desktop backup the same. All my kma's are stored on an external harddrive as niether my laptop or desktop have much space? Please help, i feel like I'm at a deadend and I am making this harder than it really is. ![]() |

It says F:\My book (E) SC8517-4.kma was not found on hard drive???? please help i want to download all my kma files from my show external harddrive to another external harddrive so i have backup and then load my show laptop songs all to my backup desktop. I have done several downloading of new songs that are not on my backup desktop and want it to be the same as my show laptop. The question is how did you backup the first drive to the second? If you used the Windows XP Backup then what you created is a compressed image copy of the first drive. And Hoster cannot find the files because they don't exist as individual files. As I said in your other post you will need to "Copy" the files from one drive to the other. You can drag and drop the folder(s) from the first to the second drive and this will copy them. When you build your database don't have both drives listed as the source at the same time. I think this is why you got duplicates. You said previously you have 2 folders for your songs (English and Spanish). Do you use both in the same shows or do you do separate shows in either English or Spanish? If you want all of the songs listed together then when you rebuild the database in Hoster, list both folders in the top block of the rebuild screen and it will catalog all of the files. I do hope you have not used duplicate BookIDs for the two languages! If you have then this will cause a major problem and you will nee

Its actually 2 drives, but when I copied over the E drive to the F drive (just selected everything, cut and paste), it automatically created a "3rd" drive within the 2nd drive. I know that sounds confusing, but thats where the "E" drive within the "F" drive came from.
I am going to work with it today and let you know how it goes. All the KMA's should be in one file, so I would have the English and Spanish altogether and not in separate files. No, I did not create separate bookid's for spanish and english. Thanks for being so patient with me. |

So we (and you) don't get confused one song (.kma) is a file. Files are grouped together in Folders, So what you are saying is all of your KMA files are in one folder (My Book?)

Yes, I did a copy and paste.
Yes, all the kma files are in "my book" or on the external hard drive. |

Which external...E: or F
![]() I just had a light bulb flash!! ![]() ![]() I don't think that should cause a problem but it could be. If you find the files on the F: drive through Windows Explorer then open Hoster and rebuild the database pointing only to the F: drive. Then try playing one. If it works then you should be able to rebuild the database again with the E: drive only. Then you should be able to remove the F: drive and move it to the other computer. Note that the drive letter may not be the same on the other computer, so when you build the database use the new drive letter.

I have the external hard drive matching to the laptop as well as the desktop now.
I would like to make a "clone" of the external hard drive, what is the best way to do this, so that if my hard drive were to crash, I could use the backup drive. Let me know if you have any questions. |

If you want the files to be usable as in to be able to swap out one drive for the other then just copy and paste all of the folders and files. This will take a while so best bet is to set it up at night to do this.

If I decide to run another show, and have double back up of each cd. I want to keep my backup on the desktop and am going to buy another laptop for a show. Would you suggest I just get the hoster lite, since i already have the hoster that has the songbook on my laptop and backup desktop.
If i do get the hoster lite, i will be putting it on a new laptop with Vista, are there many issues downloading with a vista program? Also would i just hook my external drive that i am using now for my laptop and my backup desktop and rebuild song database and that should work correct? thanks much for all your help. |

Hoster Lite does not have the ability to play a track from a disc brought in by a patron.

The only issue with Vista has been permissions for program access to external hard drives. According to MTU you would turn off the User Access Control. There is a knowledge base article in the support center describing how to do this. Then you should be able to rebuild the database from the external and be good to go.

Sorry Im not sure i mentioned i have duplicate cdg's of all my disc's i ran 2 shows before so i needed them when i was using my cdg players at the shows. I tried hoster with one of my shows just to see how it worked before i went out and spent all the money for another laptop to be sure i was happy with it. I am happy with it and want to have my 2nd show digital also and will still have my cdg player along in case someone brings in a cdg to play of thiers. My main concern was since i do have 2 original cdg's for each show i didn't want to have to import them all seperate again and wanted to be able to just make another copy of external harddrive and go with that. I always keep my cdg's for each show with each show just for the purpose if i get questioned or emergency backup.
So I am assuming making a copy of my external harddrive i use now could be copied and then used for my new show with Hoster Lite and I wouldn't have to go to all the trouble of importing them all manually again? |

I tried to copy my main external harddrive to a backup external harddrive but when i plug in the main one it is F: then when i plug in the new one i want my stuff backed up on it assigns it G:
For Hoster don't these have to be the same drive letter? Is there a thread or can someone please give me step by step instructions on how to back up my main show external harddrive F: with my kma files on them to another external hard drive and be exactly the same to where Hoster will recognize it as it does my main external harddrive. Thanks Much, I am so helpless at these things but have to admit I have learned alot by the forums. |

If they were the same letter the computer would get confused and for that matter so would I. For external drives the letter assigned by the computer is not set in stone. So to copy one drive to the other you would select all the files on one (F
![]() ![]() After the files are all copied you move the second drive to the other computer and plug it in. That computer will select a drive letter. Open Hoster, open Tools/Rebuild Database then set it to point to the external drive and rebuild.
