DVI-D Cable
Still trying to switch over to my new studio computer here. My new computer has two video outputs. #1 is this DVI-D cable {can't even find one} #2 is the high def HDMI output. Seems like they just can't leave these hookups alone. Anyway. How am i going to hook up my second monitor? Is it ok to use the high def output for my second monitor to run hoster and my other mtu programs? And what is DVI-D? is there anyway to adapt it back to the old style? where do i buy such a cable?? any type of splitter to run two monitors? Grrrrrr
![]() It's almost 40 miles round trip to walmart, and nearly70 miles round trip to the nearest best buy store. Leo said he finally got the gas pump to work so we can at least buy gas up here again..... ![]() |

Re: DVI-D Cable
you can do that..dvi cables are cheaper than vga, they ae=re about $12.00 depend on the lenght..go to Provantage, its cheaper than Sewell a DVI-I has signal pins for driving both digital and analog ( vga) display DVI-D will be missing those 4 large pins at one of of the connector on either side of the flat blade like pin, from what 've read ( been doing a lot of that lately )you can get a display link and plug it in to your pc and if you have a usb port on your monitors you can daisy chain them and be able to have dual display, can daisy chain up to 6 monitors..

Re: DVI-D Cable
If your second monitor has HDMI input, why not just run the HDMI cable from your computer to the second monitor. An HDMI cable can be picked up from any TV supplier store, try that first before spending your money on converter boxes.
The only thing with conecting this way is it also transfers your sound to the second monitor if it has sound on it, this can be sorted from the playback sound properties if you need info on that Read this post # 7 in this thread: http://forum.mtu.com/showthread.php?t=12572

Re: DVI-D Cable
i don't think he's looking for a converter, he's probably just looking for a cable to hook up the monitors to his pc, my suggestion was to just get a dvi cables and plug it into the monitor, than hdmi so that he doesn't have to play around with the sound properties .( just a suggestion.).

Re: DVI-D Cable
Your right billyo, still HDMI will work with dual display and gives excellent picture quality if he wants to try that option.

Yes you can use HDMI for your secondary monitor (singers monitor). There is also a setting that Roy can help you with to change the audio back to the computer output instead of going to the TV which HDMI will try to do. DVI-D is a digital computer monitor output that can be used for the newer flat screen LCD/LED types. It is a replacement for VGA output for these digital monitors.

Re: DVI-D Cable
Hi All,
This is the new desk top for my studio. I have 2 outputs for video on my puter. 1 is the DVI, and the other the high def HDMI. And i have 3 inputs for video on my monitor. 1 DVI, 2 HDMI, 3 VGA. Yes Dale, it is one of the new monitors. It's a 25" LG W2340Brand new products. One of the nerd high school brats brought me over an adapter to borrow. It adapts my single DVI output on my computer, over to the old stye VGA input on my new monitor. It's working. I am going to order the full DVI cable. Now, how do i get a video feed over to a TV? My studio tv doesn't have the high def input on it??? Let me guess...buy one that does??? ![]() |

I don't like putting links in here but search Amazon for HDMI to Composite /S-Video Converter 3RCA CRT TV CVBS. This one was $51. You can go from there to search for a cheaper one if that seems too much. .

Re: DVI-D Cable
Your're a lifesaver dale....I was going to invest the hundred bucks to put "Hoster Lite" in my home studio. Just so i can import songs to my external without working my lappy to death. And folks around this little village love coming over to sing in my studio. I don't need all the bells and whisles in there like i do my show. So hoster lite fills the bill. Thanks again for the info about the adapter. I will sure order one today. George
