trying to help a friend to upgrade

a friend of mine decided to upgrade to 4.06 from 3.300, she had this ( old version) for 2 yrs now, never had a problem and she never installed a second copy of it on another computer, , since she'll be doing this full time , she decided to get a new laptop , and tonight after buying the new upgrade i tried to install the new version on her new laptop and i get this msg. " something is wrong with your registration, This upgrade registration code can only install over a previous version of this product. intall this product with your prior registration code. then use the code to install the new version . (1)" does this mean she have to have the old version installed on her new laptop? i'm not sure if she saved the download of the old version, if she didnt, can i install my old version ( saved on a cd ) and put in her old reg. code.?

That is exactly correct. You are trying to install an upgrade. You need something to upgrade from installed on the computer.

The reg code would be in her account. You should be able to install a newer version 3.3xx with code.
