Won't Play CDG -- 2.x would.

All three of the drives I have are on the list of supported units...
Plextor 712A
Plextor W5224A
TDK CDRW 5200B

Firmware's are current, and Here's the kicker...I even ordered the 712A From MTU...:m This is an even longer story with no upgrade to 3.x and an invalid 10% off code for February on the website.....

Here's the Problem: Every time I try play a CDG or imported track... All the buttons light up for a quick second, What looks like a lyric window opens (black) and then it all stops... Program Stays running... and you can repeat the cycle over and over ... but it never works...

I hate to spend the money -- if it looks like it won't work.

Please help

Do you have .NET FRAMEWORK Version 1.1 or higher and DIRECTX 9.0 or higher installed?

Both are available from the downloads section of the Microsoft website.

Did you specifically install both the above? They are not included in the SP update packages, and must be downloaded individually.

Updates

I installed Windows XP w/ SP2 Then installed updates through the Windows Update site...

The problem shouldn't be my burners shoudl it? I mean, they are ALL on the known good site...? If it's something in the software ... I could reload... I need to make backups of some new discs before a show... and the sand is falling through the hourglass so to speak.

Maybe we're caught up in semantics here, but downloading Windows updates does not address whether you have downloaded and installed current NET FRAMEWORK and DIRECTX. Did you click on the link I supplied you and download those two products?

Are you now runing? George's instructions were accurate so we were letting him guide you.

What vesion of Microstudio are you installing? We always need to know that, otherwise you could be beating a dead horse installing an early version that won't support new drives or new operating systems/upgrades.

I was installing the Demo for 3.04

I know have purchased the full version 3.04 -- the files will play CDG now, however, the graphics are completly messed up...sometimes just black, somtimes they just over lap each other.... a duplicated CD however, looks fine in a CDG player...
