Breakaway SW doesn't work with 5.06
I'm having a problem with my background now. I have it on a 3 second fade and it studders while closing, Anyone else have this problem? I've been using Breakaway the last couple weeks which has auto audio gain controls, love it. Anyway it was fine until this update...

What is "Breakaway"? Has everyone re checked their operating system settings as recommended by MTU prior to completing the upgrade? |
Re: Hoster 5.06 Bug Reports
Did you follow the instructions regarding setting your Power Management set to "Max Application Performance"
Also in the Tools menu - Audio Controls command dialog a new "Audio Dropouts..." control should be defaulted to 10. Setting it higher may help. Regarding your Breakaway software I can only say see what happens if you dissable it. I did try it myself but it does try and overide Hoster settings. |
Re: Hoster 5.06 Bug Reports
Roy I uninstalled 5.06 and went back to my 5.05 and don't have any problems. This is the site for Breakaway. http://www.claessonedwards.com/index...d=46&Itemid=59
It's great little progam. It has a free 30 trial period, see if you have any problems with it and 5.06. |
Re: Hoster 5.06 Bug Reports
There is one warning Roy, if you download this, plan on paying 29.95 for it later. Theres no going back afterwards, it's that sweet...

Re: Hoster 5.06 Bug Reports
I tried it some weeks ago, don't want it, found it caused a few hick ups because it tries to adjust it's own volume and affected fades and messes with settings when you set different volume settings for different things like instabuttons and background audio.
I can get all the Audio affects through my mixer without adding to processing power that a software based system uses. |
Re: Hoster 5.06 Bug Reports
That's what the "range" on Breakaway is for. If you set it at 40, and your Hoster background at 20 then your background audio is at 60%. I have no problems with the 5.05. Did you try it with 5.06, if so then there's the problem I'm talking about, the hickups...

Johnpyle
This thread is really for 5.06 bugs reporting. Don't really want to fill it up with discussion on other software. I notice you don't have your private messaging enabled other wise I would discuss this through that. |
Re: Hoster 5.06 Bug Reports
Thats just it. My Breakaway doesn't work correctly with 5.06 and does with 5.05. So to me it's a bug...

From what I've been reading in this thread it appears that Breakaway is actually the culprit for BA Player not working on your machine. (see Roy Dennis earlier post in this thread) Breakaway doesn't seem compatible with all the new changes made to operate Hoster with "Tempo Change". Just my thoughts. |

In 5.05, we added Tempo control, which took months of time to get the kinks out to work with Windows correctly. That is probably the explanation why Breakaway works with 5.05 and not 5.06. I consider what you are reporting to be an incompatibility between Hoster and Breakaway... NOT a bug in Hoster. Test 5.06 for a while, going through all the changes we list in the "Versions" topic. You can find the link at the top of the left navigation column in the manual, which you can run from Hoster's menu bar "Hoster Manual" command. Simply put, if you don't want the new features in Hoster 5.06, then run 5.05. We are not going to address this incompatibility this year, if ever. I am moving all these topics to a new Thread called "Breakaway SW doesn't run with 5.06" so others can see it, and to clear this "bug report" thread. Then, if others post they also run Breakaway, we will consider it. However, with our addition of Tempo, I doubt seriously if there is anything we can do to let other programs change the audio after we have Tempo/Key/Fade changed it. |

The posts are now moved to this thread.

Re: Breakaway SW doesn't work with 5.06
That will be OK, just keep it on your list please... We have our Hoster running great on 5.05. The Breakaway is so helpfull at our gigs, mainly the leveling of outputs. No more tracks you have to raise, only to have them blair out on the next song. Sandra was terriable at that and I always had to be near by on song changes...

Re: Breakaway SW doesn't work with 5.06
So what you want is a "Automatic Gain Control" (AGC) in Hoster? :?
We have considered that, and would be more willing to add that in than try to modify to work with some other code we have no control over. |

I also run into some of the same challanges of keeping the volume level just right! The volume level for Videos are well below that of KMA (CD+G, MP3+G) or KMH files. This requires close attention when swithching from Video to KMA/KMH otherwise the potential to make ears ring is there. Should a post be made in Hoster new features request? |

I still vote YES to have an audio normalization feature built into Hoster, instead of having to add another program, ie. BreakAway, that may or may not work with the Hoster Programming Code... at least that way, we can keep it compatible as Hoster evolves...:w |
Re: Breakaway SW doesn't work with 5.06
Auto gain control WITH multiband compressor - but it would have to be user adjustable like Breakaway (which I use now as well). The multiband is the key to why BreakAway sounds so good. It takes certain frequencies which are recorded too hot & only pulls them down automatically on the fly taking a somewhate bad recording and bringing it back to a decenet/tolerable sounding state - crispens up the over mix & adds a little punch to the low end as well.
Like in the OTSDJ, they have a killer multi band/AGC control as well. If Hoster could add this, that would be sweet, not to affect/change the actual files, but an inline plugin doing it in real time. |

Lonnie are you having any problems with Breakaway and 5.06? The only problem I have is when the background fades out, it glitches bad...BTW I second what Lonnie said, It also would be a great selling point.
