Re: Post Hoster 5.07 Problems Here

I've done some experimentation. And I am right back where I started, lol! I have 2 computers.. My laptop which I use for my show and I have given the specs for, and a desktop that I've installed hoster on just for editing at home. I could not get hosterprior to work even from the x86 folder (would never get past drive testing, hit save and just close). So I went to my desktop (moved my external drive over) and Wahlah! hosterprior loaded. Could not find anything in database (been a while since I used hoster on this computer) so I did a database rebuild. Never got past 2000 songs before it gave me a "Wrong parameters" error. Last night I noticed that one of my new mp3 songs that I just bought from Amazon did the hang at the end when I loaded it into the main list. So, I loaded it into hosterproior and played it, no hang. I wanted to confirm that it wasn't a computer issue, so I closed hosterprior and opened up the current version of hoster. The song ended fine. So, I'm thinking must be a computer issue. So, I tried a database rebuild in new hoster and the rebuild went fine. Loaded up the karoke song that I knew hung at the end, and it hung up again! So I tried to load up Hosterprior again and now it does the same thing on this computer that it did on my laptop! So, I'm not sure what to make of any of this.?

Oh, also, I tried copying over the problem karaoke song to c: drive on my laptop and loading it via the k-oke button, still hangs. What is even more weird is songs from the same disc are fine, just the one.

I wonder if you could zip the file up and attach it to your post, might be able to see if it does the same on mine.
I notice you don't have the private messages enabled in your user account, if you did I could give you my email address which will accept bigger files if you have a problem attaching it to these posts.

OK Adam, got your 2 files OK. I can confirm that the files do hang at the end and it is the files that have become corrupted and nothing to do with your Hoster setup.
I converted them with songverter to wma+g then imported them back in as kma and they play correct. I tried converting them to MP3+G but it seems it is the mp3 format that is corrupted, as they are HDMP3G types converting the kma back to mp3 still doesn't remove the corruption, I expect that is because it is not changing the format just removing them from the kma envelope.

If you still have the original mp3+g file you could try reimporting them, only thing then is if that is corrupted you will be back were you started but worth a try, otherwise best bet is convert them as I did to wma+g then re import.
Later in the day I will email the converted files back to you so you can try them.

Re: Post Hoster 5.07 Problems Here

Wow! Thank you. At least I know what is going on now. I think the original mp3+g files are corrupt as I tried re-importing (at least 1 of those 2 I'm sure) and it did not help. It also makes sense because they were the only songs from their respective discs, that had problems. Thanks again, I really appreciate the time you have put into this.

I updated and now there is no screen that pops up for me to move over to the other monitor so my singers can see the words. Anyone know what could be causing this, or how to fix it?

I would like to see when you pull up a singer, if the song they want isn't in their history, when you go to the search songs database, the singers name would already be there. Would save time.
Also, why can't uppercase letters be seen when searching for songs? Everything shows up with upper and lower case when you type a more expanded search. Thanks

If you use the singers list that is accessed by clicking the small folder icon that is next to the singers name field in the search dialog instead of the singer button on the main display, then if the song they ask for is not in that list then their name is already in the search field as you suggest.

What would be the advantage in that ?
I would think having to click a shift key as well as a letter would be more work :r:?

Problem with Hoster 5.07 Crashing
My brand new laptop is Windows 7 (all updates (drivers too) and MTU tweaks) a Dell XPS 15z with 8 GB ram, 1 GB dedicated video card, 7200 rpm 750 GB HD.

The first night I had it out I used the mini-display out of the Dell to a vga adaptor into a convertor that sent the video from a vga cord to the singers monitor, and from the composite out of the adaptor to another monitor for the audience view:

I had one crash that first night by the tenth song I played. I was doing nothing with the keyboard at the time of the crash and the crash was at the very end of the song, when the song was completely finished. Oh, I used manual mode, using Remove Silence On (which worked great), had fade in and fade out set at 2 seconds. And when it did crash and I restarted hoster the monitor screen came on at about 1/2 the original size.(I thought one of the previous updates that was mentioned a registry entry was adjusted and it wasn't supposed to happen any more). I also thought that a bit of work was done on the playlist that nearly eliminated all the causes of random crashes.

The second night I used the hdmi out from the dedicated card into an HDMI to composite convertor to one singers monitor:

I had two crashes, one at about an hour and a half into the show, and another about an hour later. I get the Windows 7 Hoster has failed and must close error again. Restarted both times again with diminished size show display. Both crashes were at the end of the song while I was sitting there waiting for something to happen; not doing anything on the keyboard.Same settings as above, remove silence on, fade in/out at 2 sec., etc. :(
I did note the songs that it ended on and the next song afterwards both times that night.

I compare this to maybe one random crash every 6 or 8 months doing 6 to 10 shows a week (4 to 5 hours each) with 4.09D. The average "once a week DJ/KJ" would only see this behavior once every six years or so, and maybe never if they haven't been in business that long. This is with XP and a very old Dell e1505 2 GB ram with a very small, weak, 128 mB integrated card, 500 GB 5200 rpm HD.

At this rate I could expect one crash per show, this is really scary for me, but I don't think I can use 4.09D with windows 7, however, on this laptop.

Is anyone else having any of these type of crashes with 5.07? If so, do you use remove silence and fade in or fade out on the playlist songs.

Yes, I've had similar crashes (on Vista), 2-3 times a night with 5.07 - for no apparent reason it just decides to quit, sometimes while playing a disk in my separate machine and then just as I decide to play a song in Hoster, it just "stops responding" while I'm just looking at it. I don't use remove silence and this can happen even if I don't have BA turned on. I'm hoping 5.08 fixes this.

I'm gonna try it tonight with no fade in or fade out, leave remove silence on and see what happens. Gonna check out the two songs it crashed at too.

Anyone else wanna chime in?? Looking for anything in common here.

Re: Post Hoster 5.07 Problems Here

I had forgotten to add this to my settings:

I forgot to mention I also have 2 seconds of add silence before audio starts and after audio ends on the remove silence part.
