View Full Version : REALLY SLOW READ times.

I have a new Plextor 4012a and it' taking almost 30 min to read a disk. I have tried the read at AUTO and from 24x down to 8x. All take about the same time.

SPECS: CPU is a Duron 700mh, IBM 40GIG 7200RPM Dirve, 512RAM, Direct X 8.1, clean lazer lens, 1.6GIG free disk space for BIN file, using the MTU driver, searched the forums and have EVEN read the manual.

Also, EZCD Creator 5 Plat says my drives extraction speed is 18x for audio. It reads anbd writes fine as does Nero.

Any clues at all?

Go to the drives tab, and click speed selection, put read at 40 and write at 40, I'll assume you have the 40-40 Plex. and test run it. if you get garbage on your graphics, slow down your write speed a step at a time until you are happy with what you get. If you are using 32X media you need to read at 40 and write at 32, and check for graphic garbage and slow down from that one step at a time.

Still REALLY slow. 1/10MG per second slow. I have even followed all the instructions on the top of the furum regarding updating to the latest drivers - no good.

Any other ideas?

Thanx!

A long shot, but you might try going to the Plextor site and dowloading any available drivers for your burner, especially any you might find regarding support for DirectX 8.1.

Good Luck,

George,
DURON chip?? Don't know how it works with MTU??

Vicious, what version of Micro Studio have you, and I'll assume it's the full version, not a demo.

check for firm ware upgrade on plex site.

Jim, don't see what difference the chip would make in downloading drivers from Plextor to make certain a burner supports directX 8.1

Vicious V,
It sounds that your problem is probably related to the Motherboard drivers. What you will need to do is either figure out what motherboard you have installed in your computer and then try to get the latest drivers for the Chipset or the EIDE controllers or both if you can find the Manufacturer of the board and model number.

If this is a prebuilt computer then please check with the manufacturer of that computer for any updates for Chipset, EIDE or INF files for that system. This is most likely what is slowing your system down.

Johnnie Jazz,
Are you duplicating the disc using Import Tracks or using the Duplicate disc tabs? If you are not able to copy the 20th track this could be that it is a Multisession disc. I need more details as to what your problems are to try to give you any more information on what to do.

Fuji CD-R

NOTE: I have no problem when I import selected tracks, and then burn. That goes really well. It is ONLY on FULL disk copies ...
