AMD Video Card

im having trouble setting up my AMD Radeon HD-6450 card. i want to use the HDMI out to my singers display.

when i plug it (HDMI) into a converter box, it swithes the desktop view to the second computer screen, i cant figure out how to swap it.

Re: AMD Video Card

While connected to external monitor right click on desktop, select screen resolution, select the #1 screen, while that is selected look down below the dropdown boxes, the bottom one should read "extend These Displays" below that windows you should see the words "This is currently your main display" if instead it shows a tick box with the words "Make this my main display" then tick the box and press apply and OK.

Re: AMD Video Card

This is printed in the manual under "What's changed in 5.09"
Item 5 ) NEW - Dual Display - We made a change to make this more reliable. If your Video Card shows your primary monitor as number 2 and the TV as 1, prior versions would not go full screen on the correct monitor. It would jump back to your Desktop. You would then have to drag the screen to the Tv, and stretch it out to fill the screen. You now can double click and we will match the Primary screen so that we always find the intended singers monitor.

So if yours is not working maybe something not right with that change.

I have ATI Radion graphics card and mine works fine with the HDMI connected.
It may be a Windows 8 thing, as I don't have Windows 8 I can only guess.

There are other controls on mine for switching monitors under the advanced section, to get to them:
Again right click desktop, select screen resolution then select Advanced, then the ATI control centre tab then another big button in the middle for Ati catalyst control centre, in the top left corner is a graphics dropdown, select desktop displays from there, this shows a similar thing as windows, 2 screens side by side but you can right click on No1 screen and select swap.

So if the previous settings didn't work might be worth trying that.

Re: AMD Video Card

It is not just a Windows 8 thing... if you remember I posted the same problem occurring with my Windows 7 computer, when I tried it at a show a couple of weeks ago... I thought I had reversed the source / TV plug ins for my Hdmi Adaptor lol... it is the resolution values of your monitors may be set too low, or the extended screen is set as default, as Roy has suggested... use the recommended resolutions for monitor, and TV/Flatscreen as the windows version suggests, and making laptop default screen, and extending should get them reversed again...

I have noticed that at times some screens will only accept resolutions that are exactly the same as the other attached screen, and then again, will only accept resolutions within their own limits, confusing, I know.

Re: AMD Video Card

As Rikki Tikki stated, that should work fine.

Right click on the Desktop, Left click on Screen Resolution, while both monitors are connected. You should see Monitor 1 and 2, select whichever one is your Dektop Monitor, my guess from you are stating is is number 2, then select the checkbox that states: "Make this My Primary Display". Once you do this, it should work fine.
