I see, as Im sure you know In the case of converting them to stereo in audacity they will not end up as true stereo and you will get equal sound from both speakers (unless you create a multiplex track).
As to the backslashes, it is something that come about after some updates probably Windows. MTU are trying to get this software updated from the software publisher. It is being looked into, backslashes arent the only problems the update causes in the software.
Hopefully we wont have to wait much longer.
