Thomas

I had the same question about a year ago. Even when HP states the type of drive that they supply with a particular PC it does not guarantee that this is what will come with the computer.

I purchased an HP PC that was to have been supplied with a 8100 (Sony) drive and I rec'd a completely different drive which was not compatible with Microstudio. Apparently they stick whatever they get the best price on at the time the CPU is assembled.

The newest versions of Microstudio support Plextor Drives and I would suggest that you purchase one from MTU to be sure you are getting what you need. Trust me, getting a compatible drive in a "Store Bought" computer that will work with Microstudio is like finding a needle in a haystack.

It costs a few extra $ from MTU, but is well worth the extra cost to have a drive that will produce quality CDG burns.

My suggestion;

If I were to buy a "branded" computer I would buy a DELL because of the good quality product they put in there machine.
They give you a copy of Windows XP very practical if you need to re-install.

I also beleive they sell the Plextor brand if you wish to ad a DVD-RW or a CDR-RW but it's still an excellent option to purchase from MTU for the reason flipper described.

Beside building your own computer with the best hardware on the market, DELL is by far on it's own!!

Regards

Hello,
I started with a Toshiba that stated it read CDG's it didn't.
As soon as I could afford one I bought a Plextor, remember they used to be very expensive.
Since then I have had 6 Plextor drives from 12x to 48x.
Three I bought the same day, putting in bids on Ebay, I won them all, although I only wanted one.
They were all less than half the price you would pay retail
I have used everyone of them with Microstudio and everyone worked perfectly, I wouldn't even consider another writer other than Plextor.
Don't even consider the claims of other manufacturers, Plextor works!!!!
Incidentally reading another thread from, I assume the UK, I find the forums very helpful with lots of genuine guys and gals out there with nothing but concern to make things better for all of us.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
Regards from across the pond.
Garry
