Laptop sound card not detected -- Fixed with V2.308
I am attempting to use Microstudio on a laptop to play CDG files from the hard drive. Installation went fine. DX8 is installed. Program starts fine and can read the hard drive list of files. When clicking PLAY, an error box reports that the system does not contain an audio card. (Trust me, it does). Audio is an onboard ESS unit (I can provide further details if requried). System is running Windows 2000 SP1, 256MB memory. All DXdiag tests (including DirectSound) run fine and report NO errors or file issues.
I have browsed this forum and the Microstudio tech Support forum but have not seen a post relating to this. Any ideas? Regards, Jimi Last edited by DrJimi; June 19th, 2001 at 09:27 AM. |

What version of Microstudio are you running?
Click your Help menu and the DirectX Info... command. Make sure it says you have version 8.0 or higher. If not, download it (how to do it is described in the Tech Support Forum). I'll have to let MTUSUPPORT answer your audio question on Monday. If you are running V2.303 that might be the problem. There was a bug that could prevent recognizing the audio port under some conditions. This has been fixed in V2.309 (not out for beta testing yet). We hope to release 2.309 or 2.310 if required mid this coming week. |

Here's more info on the system, in case it helps you... Quick question...what if the laptop doesn't have any other sound source other than the earphone jack? Just for grins, I tried Microstudio on a Dell and was given the same error message about the sound card NOT being detected.
Any other suggestions?
