Re: Synchronise songs database on two seperate laptops

I didn\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t realize you were speaking of the actual songs. I thought you wanted to have Hoster the same on both computers. Do you use an external hard drive or are your songs loaded on your internal c drive? The best approach is to use an external drive. Once you have done as I explained in the last post you can move the hard drive from computer to computer or copy your songs from one hard drive to a second. You will then have a drive for each computer and more importantly you will have a backup in case of a hard drive failure. If you are wanting to an easy way to duplicate the songs on your hard drive there are programs that will scan the drives and update the one that is missing songs. If you are using the internal C drives to store your songs this process becomes more difficult.

Here is what I do. After I had my initial database set up with a master folder called KARAOKE SONGS and I wanted to add new songs, I created a folder and named it NEW SONGS in the KARAOKE SONGS folder. This is where I would place newer songs as I added them. To make sure my hard drives were duplicated I always would add the new songs to the same computer and the same drive and then just copy the folder NEW SONGS to the second drive. This way you didn\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t have to continually copy the complete drive which could take a long time if you have a large data base. If the NEW SONGS folder starts to get large you can start a another folder and name it NEW SONGS 2. This keeps the folders small enough to be manageable when you want to copy these folders.

By using the backup restore process I explained in the first post you can keep both computers up to date and duplicated. This will allow you to use either hard drive with either computer since they will be matched. Hope this helps.
