My vocals come in prematurely when recorded over a song
When I record through my microphone over a song and play the recorded song back, my vocals are a fraction of a second ahead of where they were sung when I recorded them. My microphone is just a standard one from radio shack, not specifically for a computer. Obviously there is no problem with it sending the vocals to the computer, but could it be the reason for the timing being off?
Thanks for the help |

This is a wild stab.
Can't help wonder if the sound accelleration is a bit fast for the mike input. I'd really be surprised if this works, but can't imagine what else may be wrong. Click START, RUN, type in DXDIAG, click O.K. Click the tab SOUND 1, If it's all the way to the right, move the HARDWARE ACCELLERATION LEVEL slider two notches to the left and exit. |

Same thing with me. I was singing along with a song in "perfect harmony" , but when playing back the recording, I was a bit ahead of the original vocals on the song.

I noticed it too, as I don't record too much, but the first time I tried in a while I noticed it today. Is anyone else able to reproduce this, let us know.

I haven't tried recording my own voice with it. But I have noticed when playing back the back up vocals on the imported tracks will do the same thing at times. When burned they are back in sync. Try burning the recording to a CDR or RW and see what happens.

That is really way much time and effort for some of us as we just want to practice song after song to see which ones we can sing at the upcoming shows. I don't sing well and can't carry a tune on most songs, so I check to see which ones I can, change keys a bit, and say "Gee maybe I'll try that song tonight".

However, if you are saying a song with backup vocals within, that they play back out of sync, I don't see how that's possible. These singers are mixed into the master music file... they ARE the same file. There is no way they can get out of sync, even if you had Vogone Lite enabled to try to remove vocals, they can't get out of sync. |

I was just responding to this part of your previous post as it seems to be along the same lines as the problem. But has nothing to do with recording voice.

I'm listening.
There are 4 of you reporting this problem, out of tens of thousands of Microstudio users. I won't rule out that Microstudio has a problem, but with only 4 reporting, like George, I "think" at this time there is something else at play here. Question for everyone with this audio problem... First, are you using an external amplifier for the Microphone? If so,there may be an audio delay. We have worked very hard to reduce the digital buffer delay so the music will be in sync. I'll schedule a meeting on this tomorrow to review our digital delay, insuring something hasn't extended it by accident. Please post what audio card, external box, etc. you are using. There are lots of them out there, and we have seen various digital delay problems with some in the past. If you all turn out to be using the same, that's a dead give-away where the problem is. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your audio card/port/system. Contact your audio hardware manufacturer for their latest software drivers, install them, and let us know if that changes anything. I'd expect that at least one of you would find the audio back in sync. There are two Tools menu commands you can try adjusting. They are not directly designed to skew the recorded audio to the music, but they "might" affect it. They are both at the bottom of the Tools menu that pops up. Adjust one at a time and see if they have any affect. |

I too have had problems when recording my voice. Is is definitely out of synch with the music. All my hardware and drivers are up-to-date. In fact, we purchased a condenser microphone made for use with computers. It has an USB 2.0 wire for best speeds. The microphone has a cardioid pick-up pattern. We thorough tested the microphone without using the microstudio software and it works extremely well. However, when used with the microstudio software the lyrics and the music are off. Another thing that would be helpful would be to allow your voice to come through the speakers along with the music (the same way a karaoke player does). There must be some way of synchronizing the voice and the music, perhaps through sofware. In any event, everything else with the program seems to be working very well thus far.
Thanks, EAC |

2. Good point that we'll look into. I expect this will take quite a bit longer to add this, but we may be surprised. |

Double tracks and vocals
Hello all,
I just purchased and downloaded Microstudio 4.006 last night. I tried it on two computers. One with Vista Home Premium with a duo core processor and one with XP Home with a Celeron processor. I tried it with my mixer, without my mixer, with an Xmod external sound card and without. I am using Shure SM58 mics, both wireless and wired. Both computers have 2G of ram, the lastest custom updates for Microsoft and the hardware components. I played with the hardware acceleration at all ranges. Hoster runs just fine on these. On both, the music would play through fine, but when I recorded the music, the playback would had the music doubled onto itself (plays the song on top of the song. When I recorded my wife singing (she is the KJ, I am just the tech guy), the playback would be delayed and the music doubled. Thanks for any assistance. |

Tried DirectX fix to sync mic vocals to music wav...
I see this issue has been around for a very long time and I haven't seen any other "fixes" than to adjust the "slider" in The DirectX diagnostics. My only problem is that I don't have a "slider" bar to adjust in the Sound tab as was described.
I have Vista Ultimate with an up-to-date DirectX 10, an audio mic in the Inspiron 9200 mic jack. Everything's working except the voice is out of synce with the background music. I bought this program just to do this. I had a program called Microsing that used to help, but it doesn't work with Vista well. Any help, please?!! |

Don't think MTU has had a chance to work on this yet as they are working hard to get Hoster 4.00 finished and released soon. There are a couple other problems that have come up with Microstudio that need to fixed too, so I am sure they will get on it as soon as Hoster is released.
