Re-installing Medit 5.4

Due to a virus, I'll be reinstalling my Win 98 SE operating system, then reinstalling Medit 5.4, and Micro CD 2.404. Does anyone know if I need to keep the hard drive partitioned into C, D, E, F, G and H like it came from MTU? It was suggested to me that I could just have no partitions. I love MicroEditor, it's been trouble-free for 5 years. But, because of it's reliability I have very little experience with having to install it back onto my computer. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
