Re: New Version Will Not Read .ZIP Files

Dale,
One other thing I just noticed is that when I do unzip the files, they are comprised of CDG and MP3. I seem to recall that one of the newer versions of Microstudio automatically converted files to Bin. Could that be the problem and if so, how do I convert them to Bin, if needed?

Re: New Version Will Not Read .ZIP Files

Define "shuts down the application" as I am not sure what you are referring to being shutdown. What error message are you getting?

I don't think from this that you have exactly the same problem as rolszews. His problem was that MS would not list (read) the zip files because this file was missing.

And no Microstudio does not automatically convert everything to BIN. Microstudio uses the BIN extension on files imported from a CDG disk. There has never been any actual conversion before or now. The old extension (CDG) used before was an MTU selected file extension name. The files have always actually been BIN type files.

Re: New Version Will Not Read .ZIP Files

Dale,
I hope I've correctly attached a copy of what the screen looks like with the error message on it. After the error message (dialogue box) appears, it closes the Microstudio application. If the attachment didn't attach, give me an email address that I can send via AOL, where I know how to attach files. I'll also send another reponse to your post with one of the zipped files that causes the error message to appear. That might be more helpful to see if it causes the same problem for you.
Thanks again for your help.
Bob

Dale,
I tried to attach one of the song files and get an error precluding me form sending it. Sorry.

Re: New Version Will Not Read .ZIP Files

Just out of curiosity did you try any of the other things listed above for fixes, like doing the Custom Updates from Microsoft? If not try that first.

Submit a Support Ticket telling them exactly what the problem is, what has been done. Attach one of the files in the Ticket (look for the "Attach" button in the Ticket web page). Select Dept = SUPPORT before submitting it.

Re: New Version Will Not Read .ZIP Files

Dale,
I did try all of the suggestions. I'll attach one of the files to them. But I wrote to them asking for thier "regular" email addresses so I could send it to them via AOL ( my ISP).

Re: New Version Will Not Read .ZIP Files

I gave you the address in my post. Email address written exactly in format within a public forum invites spammers to search for and use those addresses so we put "at" instead of "@"

I changed Dale's recommendation to the above. Please follow this, which guarantees we get your attachment to the right person.

Re: New Version Will Not Read .ZIP Files

I was not aware you could attach a file to Support Ticket Email.

Re: New Version Will Not Read .ZIP Files

Happy ending to a long story. I downloaded the lame file and installed into System folder under windows. Still no joy. However, I then deleted it and reinstalled into System 32 under windows and it works perfectly. Thanks to all for their help.

That was where I told you it needed to be in the first place in answer to your question about where to put it.
