Unhappy Process to uninstall MP4 files

Hi there,
I recently installed MP4 songs into my Hoster program from a small usb drive and now want to remove them and re-use the Hoster song numbers. Hoster will only play the songs if the usb drive is accessible so I want to install the same songs into my laptop hard drive first but want to use the same song book numbers.

1. Is this possible?
2. How do I achieve this?

Kind regards
Lloyd Te Kani:

Re: Process to uninstall MP4 files

This depends if you want to move a whole folder of these songs or various tracks from different folders ?

Simply copy the whole folder or individual files to your new location.
If copying individual files you must copy both the original video file and its corresponding KMH file as this carries the Disc Id and Book Id info.
Do not delete anything yet from the external drive.
I would suggest you create a new folder to copy them to.

Now before indexing these files you need remove them from the existing database to avoid any duplicating of ids. You must have the external drive connected while doing this.

If you moved a whole folder of songs you can remove them from the database by opening the Tools/Songs Database/Build database dialog.
Look down the list of folders in the left column, select the folder to be removed then click the Remove folder button. You can check if its the correct folder by its contents shown in the right hand panel.
When complete you should get a confirmation X amount of songs removed from database.

Now you can add the new folder by selecting the Add folder button after which your files will be restored to the new location.

If you only chose to copy individual files you will have to remove the originals from the Tools/Edit songs dialog by listing the songs there and using the Delete button for each song you need to remove from the database. You will need to have the external drive connected to do this.
Once you have removed them, open the Build database again, Add the new folder as before.

If you chose to add them to an existing folder and not create a new one you would have to select the folder in the Buildsongs database and select Rescan folder. This will show a dialog at the end stating added X amount of songs if successful.

Hi again Roy.

Firstly let me say I\'m obliged for all the help you and the others in this forum have provided me with in the past and more than likely will provide in the future as well.

So getting back to this problem with MP4 downloads, unfortunately I didn\'t realise that when such files were downloaded, you not only downloaded the video file but also the KMH file and the baggage that came with it. The MP4\'s were loaded from a USB stick drive but for one reason or another I did not need those particular song files and now want to remove them from my Hoster program but want to re-use the reference numbers. Yes, I did. I deleted the songs totally from the USB drive but they remain in my playlist in Hoster.

I hope you understood my ramblings Roy. Basically what I need to do is remove all reference to those songs from my Hoster program. How can i do this and re-use the song reference numbers for other songs to follow.

Kind regards,

Lloyd Te Kani

Re: Process to uninstall MP4 files

You dont download the kmh file, Hoster creates it, the kmh file holds all the database info for that track.
Just so i understand your question, rather than me write a load of instructions that are not what your asking.
Do you want to remove all references that were on your external usb drive ?

Hi again Roy,
So in short I downloaded 100 mp4 songs into Hoster using a USB stick as the storage device. I have since deleted the mp4 songs from the USB stick but the song references remain in my Hoster program. How can I delete the song references from Hoster so that I can re-use the reference numbers for other songs I plan to download?

I hope I haven’t confused the issue further.

Kind regards,
Lloyd Te Kani

Re: Process to uninstall MP4 files

Try this:
Open the Tools/Songs Database/Build database.

In this dialog is a list of file paths of the indexed songs. Scroll down the list till you see the volume letter used by your USB stick. If there are multiple references you can select them all using shift + left click.
Once selected Press the Remove Folder button.

You can choose to select the file paths one at a time if you prefer.

I should close Hoster and restart it before checking if this has been successful.
