Backup SCDG with new Microstudio 3.001 version?

Is it now possible to back-up a SCDG with Microstudio as was promissed by the Admin in another post? Just wondering.

As long as you have a Dual Layer DVD burner and a blank Dual Layer DVD you can make a duplicate disc. However there is no way with Microstudio to extract the individual songs.

I tried to duplicate a SCDG (cavs tropicalzone sctzscd-1125) and I keep getting a "user aborted" error message almost at the end of the process, but I haven't aborted anything or touched anything. I tried it three times in a row... that's three double layer discs that are now useless (and they are not cheap).

Another interesting thing... when I press the "Test your CD before writing" button, it actually writes on the DVD-DL anyway. What's up with that?

Suggestions?

Test CD simulates writing but the disc should be ok. I know that I was able to duplicate them, but I believe Admin said they had the same problem you had. We really didn't test that during Beta testing. Also if you notice it isn't listed as one of the functions.

There are other programs out there that will create an image of the disc and can then be written back to one and I know they work for all discs.

Additionally, does anyone know of a workaround to convert SCDG songs to CDG or any other format that can later be imported into Hoster or Microstudio? I've read on the CAVS forums that this is feasible with programs like CDGFix. Has anyone been successful doing this or has used the CDGFix program to extract SCDG songs to import into Hoster?

Yes CDGFix does work. And hopefully in version 4 of Hoster they will fix it so we can import the whole disc instead of just 99 songs.

SCDG discs SHOULD backup to a DVD-R 7GB disc (not your normal smaller DVD writeable media).

We succeeded on one drive, and failed on another. We didn't have time to dig deeper before getting 3.001 out.

Microstudio 3.001 was released yesterday. You should have received an email with a download link to get it... BEFORE NOVEMBER 30. Be sure to back it up on a CDROM as it will NOT be available on-line for upgrading after November 30. This is a CHANGE in MTU's proceedures. We will no longer be upgrading the Store Account Download links. This is just not feasible for us to continue doing.
